| The sentence is now being reviewed at the instigation of four of the "victims" This is beginning to look very much like a witch-hunt. I was with a group of seven women/girls on Saturday ranging in age from 72 to 15 and all agreed that this prosecution was a waste of money and time. All the older members of the group had been at the receiving end of such an "assault" and none us felt the need to report it let alone seek to prosecute (or should that be persecute) the assaulter. Of course what DLT did was wrong but I feel all sense of proportion has been lost. |

I concur - couldn't have put it better myself probably because I'm of the opposite gender - I don't approve of what he did but I reckon 'Tears For Fears' were 30 years ahead of their time - right now we definitely live in a mad world

There need to be consequences for people who abuse our justice system to pursue what is now obviously a personal vendetta - at the moment there are none.
I am not a particular fan of DLT, and I am sure his conduct has not always been beyond reproach, but this is ridiculous. These vexatious proceedings are out of all proportion to the allegations that have been made. It is time that anonymity was stripped away. |

I'm afraid I would disagree really very strongly (and happily, our criminal justice system does too). In a case where it is predominantly a matter of the defendant's word against their accuser, then any financial motivation for the accuser becomes highly pertinent.
It has to.
Otherwise the pursuance of fabricated legal actions would become a business (underpinned by anonymity and the basis that there is 'nothing to lose' for the accuser.)

Spot on uncle but sadly we live in a ridiculous politically correct society - and believe me I've been there and got the tee shirt although I hasten to add nothing criminal and not in the same area as DLT - if the powers that be had their way I reckon they would have preferred to have the shirt off my back

As a postscript - I note that the Attorney General has concluded (mercifully quickly) that no further action is necessary.
I wonder what they will try to throw at him next? |
