We've been putting down SOTS on other threads a bit recently, but I found this one on my internet radio and it's a breath of fresh air for 60s stuff.
Had it on for an hour or so this morning and a few tracks I'd not heard in ages. So I'll give it a try more often.

I was unable to find Absolute 60s a few months ago, instead finding 70s and 80s. I will try to find it again and listen. I know it's not all obscurities from 1961, like SOTS, so am sure I will enjoy it! |

Were you on DAB or internet radio Schidz? I'm not sure if it's on DAB. You should get it online though.

Thanks Helen!
Always good to have options.
As I've said before on the SOTS thread I like hearing obscurities and ones I haven't heard before...I've found some little gems that way....so SOTS is a must listen for me.
I checked my dab radio and I can get Absolute and Absolute 80's and 90's. Absolute 60's is there also but when I try to tune in it says 'Service unavailable'

Seems you're both right Helen/Becky: I couldn't find it on DAB so will try online! |

The "Tune In Radio" app on my tablet (Kindle Fire HD) seems to have all the Absolute Radio versions i.e. 60's, 70's, 80's . |

Helen: just scrolled through all my DAB stations and have got Absolute 70s to the OOs but no 60s! . Unfortunately I'm just outside the London area, it seems. |

That's a shame Schiz. It's weird how they you put into DAB areas. I was sure I'd be in the Smooth Manchester area for their breakfast show but I get the London one because I'm in Cheshire but less than a mile from the county line.
I'm really glad I went for the internet radio rather than the one that recorded onto a memory card, seems they couldn't put both on the same radio.

I was listening, just before, to Absolute 60's and tweeted Pete Mitchell to ask why I could get some Absolute stations on my dab radio but not 60's. He asked me where I was and then replied "Unfortunately there are areas in the NW where you may struggle to get us"
Well that told me about Absolute 60's but not why I could get the others on my dab radio but not them!!
Does anyone know if they are broadcast from the same place? (as I typed that it seemed a daft question but...) |

Becky I've not tried on mine as I found them while searching for some internet stations to replace one that no longer streams on internet radio, but still does online.
I'll have a try later on and let you know the score.

Some further information re Absolute 60's radio,Helen.
Pete Mitchell was in touch again and said that Absolute 60's is on Dab in some parts of the country....to which I replied that that is odd if all Absolute programmes are broadcast from the same place.
To that he replied that they are "but they are relayed, ie broadcast/transmitted in different ways and on different platforms"

I have some recollection of it being on DAB when it first launched but I may be confusing it with another station where that happened.

In the absence of anything else,I fancied, I thought I'd have a listen to Absolute 60s on Sunday morning and after the DJ had played a few numbers from the Beatles I looked at the website and found it was a programme called Beatles Brunch.
Not sure if it's on every week but looks like it.
Beatles Brunch
Spend your morning with Geoff Lloyd and two hours of the finest Beatles tracks, covers, solo stuff and rarities. Sundays from 10 on Absolute Radio 60's
http://absoluteradio.co.uk/schedule/beatles-brunch-43/
He played a really lovely cover of I Will by Garrison Keillor, which I can't find on Youtube! |

Is this the one you're looking for, Becky?

And while I'm typing, this has followed it. I'm sure you will like it, Becky. I'm off to investigate further!
With Meryl Streep...

Absolute 60's used to be on DAB, but they took it off, for reasons best known to themselves. Pity, as having that on in the kitchen, made cooking a pleasant experience. This was about 18 months ago, at a guess. I used to listen to the Beatles Brunch most Sundays, but haven't tuned in for ages, on the computer. I'm partial to Cerys on 6 Music at that time. But Geoff Lloyd is a big fan, and so plays some good Fabs tracks and covers. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Ah thanks,Raver..that's the one.
A beautiful song sung very simply and beautifully. The same goes for the Meryl Streep song.... she has a lovely voice.
I'm a listener,too, to Cery's programme but didn't hear it all this morning. |
