Leo Green starts a new series which sounds very promising. The first one is on Tuesday 2nd Feb and concentrates on Johnny Mercer.

Leo has such an easy manner which makes him very enjoyable to listen to. I enjoyed both the music (although I wasn't always keen on which artistes he chose to sing the songs) and what he had to say about Mr Mercer.

he did play a beautiful version (not all though) of Skylark by k.d. lang. I first heard it on the soundtrack of a Clint Eastwood film, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which has a link to Johnny Mercer.

I was going to listen back to earlier shows like the one for songwriter Harry Warren but I've just looked at the playlist and I won't bother.

The greatest Harry Warren tunes were written in the 1930s and recorded by the top bands and singers of that decade in Britain and the USA yet the playlist we get from R2 is the usual Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald...... Surprised

another opportunity missed for R2 to widen their 'playlist' they just churn out what is on their iTunes list or whatever they have now.
