I'm sure some of you will have heard already but there is to be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Sir Terry Wogan in September at Westminster Abbey.

Glad he is getting a good send off, he deserves it. |

Thanks for this Toggy, I hadn't heard about it but I've not really been listening to the radio today.
My Mum said the other week when his name came up in conversation that they kept his funeral very quiet, which I'm glad about as I didn't hear when that was.

Thank you for that info, Toggy. I am just back from a walking holiday in the Lake District and haven't been keeping up with the news. |

The funeral was the Tuesday of the week after his death. Just close friends and family. It's believed Father Brian D'Arcy was among the guests, but I guess none of the Radio 2 DJs could go. |

I think it was said at the time that the family wanted his funeral to be private (quite right)
A memorial service is usually more upbeat with amusing stories and anecdotes which Terry would have appreciated.
I'm sure some of most of his Radio 2 friends will attend the memorial. |
