The second series (6 episodes) of the Young Montalbano begins tomorrow on BBC4 at 9pm. It's in Italian with subtitles but still enjoyable.
I enjoyed Inspector Montalbano and this is a bit like Endeavor is to Inspector Morse. The young actor playing Montalbano is quite nice as well.

A new series of Cardinal started last Saturday night,Helen,in the same slot as Montalbano. There are 6 episodes of Cardinal ...2 at a time.... so I think that means Montalbano will be back a fortnight on Saturday. |

A surprise last night .... a familiar face (if you watched The Sopranos) in unfamiliar surroundings - Dominic Chianese, who played Uncle Junior, made an appearance His Italian was impeccable ...made me wonder if it dubbed.
An excellent episode last night. |

I've still to watch either of these episodes but was delighted that the Sky box picked up the first one from the 'next series' search. The first time that I can ever remember it working, so no need to have to watch within 30 days on iPlayer . I like to save them for when I've time to watch 'properly'!

I've read online that the rest of this series of Montalbano are repeats!!
Funny to make just two for a new series but there we are. |

I may be dreaming this up, but I seem to recall we only got 2 episodes last year and reading somewhere that there were 4 made but either the BBC hadn't bought them, or were saving them for future times.
As I said don't quote me, it could have been about something else completely!!!

Looking in the TV listings what was following on from Mystery Road on BBC 4 tonight and see that Salvo and the gang are back in a new series.
I checked and it says - first aired 10/10/20.
So it's off to beautiful Vigāta, for a couple of hours forgetting all the gloom and doom of our present world. (apart from the odd couple of murders that is) |

Oops I meant to post this earlier in the week, sorry. There is sadly only 2 in this series but it's better than nothing! We'll record and watch later.

Alert for a brand new episode of Montalbano filmed in 2019 and on BBC4 tonight at 9pm. Not sure if this is a one off or if there are any others to follow.

Salvo!!
Thanks for the alert, Helen - alas, after seeing Ian's post, it is sadly the last one ever.
I really enjoyed one of the foreign language films they put on in that slot the other week
It was a biopic of Tove Jansson who created the Moomins

A new script writer on Montalbano?
The old Salvo we know and love would never had treated Livia like that and he would never have acted so unprofessionally with the forensics expert - that was Mimi's role.
A disappointing and unsatisfactory (for me) ending to Montalbano. |
