To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Decca records Rod Stewart presents a 2 parter beginning tonight.
May be worth a listen. I'll record it and 'Listen Again'.

I heard about this programme on a trailer yesterday - thought that sounds like it will be worth a listen - and then promptly forgot about it - so thanks for the reminder,Helen. |

Thanks H. I wouldn't have known about this otherwise. Just starting to listen. I thought of all the Decca records we had in our home, back in the day...and thought that out of all of them, the best of all was Telstar, by The Tornados. And it was the first piece of music played!
Trying to remember all the Decca records we owned, brings to mind Little White Bull by Tommy Steele, You Need Hands/Tulips From Amsterdam by Max, along with a couple of others from him. Various Tom and Englebert singles and later on Rolling Stones albums. A few more besides, but they stand out in my memory. And I have sneaky downloads of Billie Holiday's The Decca Years.
Oh and while I think of it, Reflections Of My Life, by Marmalade. Had to mention that, as it's a Desert Island Disc for me. Rod is now playing Rock Around The Clock, which is, to my knowledge, the first 78 rpm record I ever sat on and broke, aged 2/3. I always thought it was on the Brunswick label. I seem to remember Ted Heath and his Orchestra on Decca, from that time.
Sorry to blather on, but it's brought out the anorak in me. I could have gone on for much longer !
Update; I have just checked in a little well worn paperback I have and yes, Haley was on Brunswick, so maybe it was a subsidiary of Decca.
It hasn't taken long for this to plumb the depths. The Smurfs and now Mouldy Old Dough. Bring back Max and Tommy!! _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

The legacy of Jonathan King - but I bet he's not mentioned in this show! |

The first ever record I bought, in April 1964, was Tell Me When by The Applejacks. I still have it, in its faded orange sleeve, but not played it for decades. Would never get rid of it. |

Great record - Tony played it this morning on SOTS. |
