It’s been a few years since I last posted here! Hope everyone’s doing ok.
In the meanwhile, I got married, wrote a book, will be taking early retirement shortly.... and practically gave up listening to R2.
Is it worth returning to? Does it still resemble the same station I remember? 😉

Hello Cherskiy! Welcome back, do join in!
Congratulations on all those things.
I'm afraid when it comes to Radio 2 I think most of us listen less than we used to. Many of the better presenters have left, the main playlist is bland and dull, the specialist shows have been cut right back, and it just seems a station without identity now. Heart without adverts.
But there are still some gems in the darker hours, and Ken Bruce soldiers on. |

Hello Ian
Yes, I think Ken Bruce is an android, or is powered by Duracell batteries.
Thanks, shall stick around for a bit at least! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Hi Cherskiy, a voice from the past! Congratulations on life as well! Can I guess what the book is about or would I be completely wrong.......?
As Ian says the station is a shadow of its former self but the strange thing is when I listen, mostly in the car, I do enjoy the bits I hear!
I think our music tastes have probably changed a bit, have yours?
H
PS As you will have probably guessed I've not been up there for over a year. Have places changed much? _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!

Hi Cherskiy
Nice to have another voice on here.
Congratulations on your wedding and on having your book published.
Perhaps you'll have more time to write another when you retire?
I am not a regular Radio 2 listener,I dip in from time to time, but enjoy some of the specialist programmes. Unfortunately some of the ones I enjoyed have disappeared. |
