Ed (Stewpot ) Stewart was covering for David Hamilton on the Big L today.

Ed Stewart wil be on Classic Gold during the xmas period, he will be doing a sixties show on xmas day and he will be back on new years day too doing another show, I think its just the two shows at the moment but I dont know if he will become a regular swing jock on there it remains to be seen, It might be a posibility that he will do cover for Tony Blackburn and Paul Burnett in the future

With the exception of Paul Burnett, it's Radio London all over again out there on the watery waves circa 1967!

PS: Mark, have you got a thing about Ed Stewpot? Is it natural? _________________ This week's $64,000 question: Why am I so gorgeous, possums? |

No the man is a legend, and we need to keep an eye on someone who was very popular and missed by the listeners when he Retired from R2. |

Here's a thought. IF Brian Matthew were to prove unable to return to SOTS, how about trying Stewpot out as its new presenter?

Ella,
Paul Burnett was on Radio 270, based just off Scarborough. _________________ Geddon

I think Ed retired from R2, or there was some differences which made him decide to hangup his headphones?
I think Johnnie would take over SOTS and Chris Tarrant would take over the Sunday 5-7pm show, if he's offered a job on R2? |

Personally. I'd love to see Ed return to radio 2 and he'd be great on SOTS or POTPs for that matter but wasn't he sacked by the dreaded one? I don't think he'd come back if he was sacked. |

I suspect Ed will end up on either the Big L or Classic Gold? He may of had a contract still with the Beeb which forced him not to work for another radio station, but as it's finished now he may do some swing jocking and will appear to cover presenters? I would expect he's financially comfortable and likes to do the odd radio work. I know he does like his golf, so I suppose he's semi retired? |

I think Ed would be great on SOTS.
My ideal schedule would be Johnnie on SOTS and ED back in his old slot. I doubt that it will happen though.

PS I didn't realise that Ed had divorced his wife until I read about a pension problem in a finance part of a paper recently. _________________ 88 - 91 FM this is Radio 2 from the BBC!

As reported, Ed Stewart will be making a return to national radio - you can hear two special shows on Christmas Day and New Year's Day on Classic Gold. |
