Interesting comment that Ken Bruce made on his own R2 show yesterday and repeated on his Eurovision coverage tonight. The concept of two seperate contests. One for Eastern Europe & the other for Western Europe. The line roughly drawn along the River Rhine. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

Well, same old, same old. The Eastern bloc vote for each other and the Western countries vote according to how good the song is. The Baltics vote for Russia to stop being invaded and.... oh, I'll stop now.
The voting is a travesty - KB had it right when he said that there'll eventually be two contests, one for the East and one for the West.
Entertaining it may be, but the partisan nature of the voting spoils what should be an apolitical contest. Maybe if we got Billy Bragg to do next year's song we would win something? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I did not enjoy it at all. It's gone from a good entertainment to a total bore.
Agree, STW sounded really hacked off with it. KB not much better.
Let's drop the funding and let them get on with it.

It was a very close to us winning a deserved 'nil-points award', but sadly Ireland and Malta spoilt it.
Better luck next time |

Sorry but bad though it was our song was a long way off being the worst. It's time for us to leave this contest, it has gone beyond a joke. |

I think he lost faith in the whole point of the thing, and the way the voting works years ago, but his commentary is just so entertaining. |

Think STW labours the point too much about the voting..pretty well everyone voted for Serbia ,Ukraine and Russia.
Ireland's diddly die thing has got to be the worst thing ever to come out of that musical isle.
Someone should have given the pink fairy in the green room a slap tho. _________________ The wheel keeps on turning...

Yes, the lass in the pink bunny suit could have done with a good slap now and again, whilst the Irish entry was dire. Mind you, they had some company....
The UK entry certainly was nowhere near the worst, but its getting rather predictable now, and just a little bit silly. Twenty years ago it was a song contest, now its a way of thumbing up collective noses at other European nations. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
