Mars has abandoned plans to use animal products in its chocolate, and has apologised to "upset" vegetarians.

I thought some vegetarians are on diets so why do they need to eat Mars Bars?
I wonder if Janey Lee Grace signed the petition? |

We don't ernie, as a rule, plus veggies seem to have less sickies, according to my boss anyway.

Another misleading headline from our Mark. Mars has not banned animal products, it has decided not to include animal-based rennet in some of its confectionary products as was planned. So, it has not really banned them - and has reversed its decision to use them, quite simply.
And quite right too. I am glad to see that the company has bowed to the pressure of 6000 complainants and also to pressure from the Vegetarian Society.
If they did go ahead an include calves rennet in some of their products I would refuse to buy them - even if I love Mars bars! It is totally un-necessary to use it so the only reason could be that they managed to find a cheap source somewhere! |

Totally agree, I thought it was the planet
I thought they'd found water, but finding animals and chocolate seemed a huge step forward |

Well, Snooze24 were using the same headline, as were their presenters today. If you weren't up on the story, "Mars has banned animal extracts being used in their confectionary" would make you sit up and take notice.
I hadn't realised the Martian Colonies had declared independence yet. For a minute I thought I was watching ISN on Babylon 5.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
