You're never too old to have new experiences and I forgot to tell you earlier that for the first time in my life I, along with 7 others, did the (almost) Full Monty at a local charity do last Saturday. Not bad at 58, eh? The charity involved was SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy) and the whole concert raised about £1000.

Were you introduced with 'You Sexy Thing' by Hot Chocolate? Then 'You Can Leave Your Hat On' by Tom Jones for the act itself! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

It went well until an old dear in the front row squinted through her specs, turned to her friend and said "I don't know what they're wearing- but it really needs ironing"
Truthfully, though- much respect Ian. Well done!

Thanks for comments. The local paper (which mercifully didn't name all the individuals) described us as eight brave men. Terrified would have been a better description! I'll see if I can do a link to the paper on this one. Watch this space.
The Tom Jones track provided our incidental music. I'll never listen to this objectively again.

You and your associates are certainly brave, Ian
Personally, I'll get naked anywhere without fuss- but I wouldn't want to inflict the sight on an audience, no matter how charitable they were _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Thanks for appreciative comments. I should emphasise that we were allowed to retain our black boxer shorts!

By the way, PJ--I've a soft spot for Kent after living in Margate for two years in the 1970s and exploring quite a lot of the county whilst I was there.
Paid a return visit in 2006 and was surprised at how unchanged Margate and much of Thanet were.
Would you care to divulge which part of Kent you inhabit?

Ian,
Having been born in East London, I gravitated to the Garden of England via North London and Hastings.
I've spent the last 19 years in Maidstone, the county town. And I'm still continually surprised that I've not been asked to leave yet
The coastal Kent towns don't seem to have changed much- I feel that there doesn't seem to be much attempt to spruce them up. I was in Margate about 6 weeks back to do a disco at the Winter Gardens and the place struck me as if it were being allowed to wither and curl up quietly.
In the larger towns- Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury etc- there seems to be a mad rush to build shopping malls and lego-type housing, before bricks go out of fashion _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy!

Well done Ian, it takes a special kind of courage to make a fool of yourself in public and you should be very proud of what you and your friends achieved. I had not heard of SUDEP before although I lost a very good friend who had an epiletic fit in her sleep and died, she was only 40. She was bubbly, buxom and blonde with a wicked sense of humour, she told her husband that when she was cremated, if she died 1st, she wanted the Doors, Light My Fire, to be played as her coffin went behind the curtain. This he did, she made me laugh, even though I was crying, so she had the last laugh, bless her.
