I want to contact someone but I don't want to do it via the "contact seller about this item" option as I don't want what I type to appear on the auction page. Is this possible? |

You can contact the buyer or seller by clicking onto their contact details. |

But the seller's specific contact details aren't accessible by either party until Seller and Buyer have agreed a transaction (Data Protection Act). The only way to contact the seller is in the manner suggested above. However, in order to avoid the risk of your question being posted in the "Questions from Buyers" section on the auction page I seem to recall that it's at the seller's discretion as to whether to keep it quiet or make it public. So the only thing to do is to ask the seller not to publish the question.
I have an idea that somebody asked me to this recently in respect of an item that I was selling - but I can't remember how it worked. |

I've only recently joined EBay, and managed to get some good items from there. The bidding part hots up as the time is running out! I got one item literally in the last minute! I don't think it is as addictive as the South American River site though! |

I've not done much eBaying, but my Film Society did get a projector from there - we had loads of us lined up in a room all bidding to make sure we got it in the final seconds! |

There's software you can use to bid snipe - and make sure you don't lose that must-have item! |

Shaky, I've just tried this out myself.
If you click on advanced search at the top of the page,
then click on "Find a member" on the left side of the page,
(enter the seller's id)
then click on the sellers id on the sellers profile page which comes up.
then click on "Contact member"
this will bring up a question page along with a coded security number.
It works everytime for me. |

Thanks everyone!
I sent the message anyway and didn't come up on the screen so the seller must have chosen not to display it
SantaFefan I tried that but it still brings up the details of the item for some reason. I did use that method successfully on a previous occasion so have no idea why it didn't work on this occasion. |

Thought I'd add this here as ebay is the topic. One of my colleagues on the Al Bowlly yahoo group wrote:
>>Hello everyone.
Last April I wrote about loosing about 100 Al Bowlly 78's on a BA
flight.
After 4 months, BA compensated me £40 for the loss.
Today I recovered the records myself. A miracle.
I had heard that it is cheaper for BA to dispose of lost baggage than
trying to return them to their owners. I didn't quite believe that
but I'm not too sure now.
I found an auction house which the "baggage handlers" use to sell off
the "lost baggage".
For months I've been searching their auction lots. On Monday I
actually found a listing for over 80 78rpm records. After a few phone
calls which confirmed that yes, they were my records, I was told that
the only way to get them was to bid for them. Credit card in hand I
won my records for £14.
The other 20 or so were not included as they had broken.
I'm in the UK in November and I am looking forward to picking them
up. The ladies at the auction house were just fantastic. Flowers and
chocolates are due.

How weird is that?? |
