Gun crime is getting out of control amongst the youth who gather around streets. It's increased not only in London with shootings of young children, but spreading across the country. Is there an answer to all this?

Yes, severely moderated violence on tv and films, parents with morals, less encouragement for kids to be grown up at 14 years old and, fear of discipline from the moment we're born!.
ps I do not have kids. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

i.e. Like it used to be. At risk of sounding like a grandad, I certainly wouldn't have told my parents when I got caned at school because they certainly wouldn't have gone round to the school the next day to knock seven bells out of the member of staff who punished me. While it was far from being 'all honey & sunshine' then, I don't think anyone at any of the schools I went to ever took anyone else's life. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

What an horrific shooting in Liverpool. What on earth was going on here? Do we have any idea of a motive?

Guns aren't the problem. If they didnt have guns they would use knives. Or rocks. Or their bare hands. The problem seems to lie in the value placed on human life, or more accurately the lack of value. Changing that will take years or even decades, if it is at all achievable. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

When I was 15, I didn't even think of the value of human life, I don't believe anybody normal kid did.
I was far too engrossed in radio control boats and stuff, being a kid! but we knew right from wrong for sure.
That's the problem as I see it, no discipline breeds no respect, no respect breeds violence and ignorance of people's property or lives and of course safety in numbers, ie gangs.
Aside from drugs.. I do believe that much of today's violence by youngsters is copied or at least influenced by what they see on the TV and films.
Is it necessary? is it right to show such realistic scenes involving brutal murder or callous shooting? and to make out it's "cool" to hold a gun this way? I don't think so.
It's anything goes now. I think some of today's actors and film producers should feel ashamed of themselves.
and, I don't believe it'll get any better at all. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
