Are there any?

They could play a recording of his show from 20 years ago live one weekday morning and no-one would notice any different-it's the same tired old formula day in day out.

I don't know who you're talking about, but I've always wondered what happened to Gary Davies Wink

Ernie-Maybe you are being gentle/kind here with your recent comments.

Lets not beat around the bush. You are referring to Richard Allinson.

Where your argument falls down is that e-mail by way of example was not around in the 1980's-so how could possibly Richard's format be the same today as it was all those years ago-it's not is it.

Indeed Richard's daily show on BFBS is nothing like any other show presented on Radio either now or in the past.

If we look at Terry's current format-has it really changed much in 20 years-I would say not. Of course push back/challenge me-aafter this is a message board to discuss all things radio.

By the way "have a blameless weekend". Cheers.

Terry reads email as well. Maybe he had an email account back in the 80's? Wink

Ernie is close to naming names but not quite there yet.

Still we all should try to remain friends on here as opposed to arguing /falling out with one another.

Talking about the latter where's Nod today!

I agree, it's not worth it, lets be honest in the grand scheme of things bearing in mind all the sad news around at the moment a radio program is not that important is it.

So he's swapped fax for e-mail? Big deal. And if you're unaware that Terry reads e-mails out you can't possibly have listened and therefore cannot possibly make any comments about him.

Ian-I remember when I was a teenager I used to have to listen to Terry Wogan on Radio 2 whilst getting ready for school/colleage because that was my father's choice first thing in the morning. I used to think how unfunny/boring/predictable Terry Wogan was and secretly I used to think "why can't we listen Capital Radio instead".

I am now 47 and when I tune in every now again to TW I honestly think that absolutely nothing has changed in the format. Indeed I didn't laugh at the jokes 30 years ago and I still don't laugh at them now.

Consequently I am much look forward to the changes that will happen when TW and SK retire from the station.

I'm not a huge fan of TW myself (I listen to Radio Lancashire usually) but when he's on form, he's really really good. He can connect with an audience in the way very very few other broadcasters can do and Radio 2 will really miss that when he goes.

Relating back to the subject, Moyles simply can't connect with an audience because he's surrounded by enough sycophants already. It *may* be entertaining but, really, it's like listening to a conversation on the next table in the pub.

Mark,

If I didn't like SK, TW, KB, SW, SOTS , RA instead of CE etc, I'd tune to capital Smile

Not quite correct Nod.

Because I don't like any of the daytime presenters on Radio 2 I tune into other stations-but Capital is not one of them.

Daytime radio on other stations is much more to my liking.

OK.

Just to correct one point, Terry wasn't on R2 20 years ago. According to a biography about him he left in 1984 and returned in 1992, but that makes no difference to your viewpoint, and you were a teenager long before that Smile

Yeah but Mark, nod didn't tell you to tune in to Capital. All he said was that HE would tune into Capital.

Get it? Wink

No I won't start a Pedantry thread here Smile
