Pete Mitchell has just said Dermot is on holiday for the next 3 weeks but isnt he doing X Factor tonight?

All the audition programmes are recorded way in advance (they're heavily edited, in case nobody had noticed) and Dermot's bits are few and far between. His presence is a lot less that Kate Thornton's was so it's anybody's guess as to how much time he was around during the regional shooting schedule. Not much, i would assume. That will change, of course, when it goes into studio and is live.

there are schedule changes in october on radio one, five live and 6 music- I wonder if there will be some changes on radio 2 for when Dermot starts doing the live X Factor shows.If so there should be an annouyncement any day now...

Dermot's doing the early show (Stuart's slot). This was announced ages ago. So long ago, in fact, that plans could have changed. Don't know what's happening to Stuart, though.
