We're told, via today's news, that we should all stop eating bacon and ham and give up red wine if we want to lower the risk of cancer.
But others are saying that these things do no harm in moderation.
May I ask fellow non-vegetarians if you'll be giving up your bacon butties?
I shan't!

I've been talking about it with my wife this morning.
My usual and predictable response to anything like this is what a load of cobblers, only in a little stronger language.
But, I've thought for many years, the array of chemicals we take in on a daily basis just can't be any good for us and maybe it's taken decades for the truth to be realised? I could believe that.
With this latest scare plus a little common sense, I think many of us know deep down that we are potentially asking for trouble carrying on like we do.
I love meat but I could easily give up ham, bacon, pork or lamb but a good fillet steak would be missed...
It seems most of the people I've known to die have been diagnosed with cancer. Has it always been this way or is it really a result of modern living? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I've just been to a local bakery and bought for my lunch a chicken and salad sandwich and a small pot of fruit salad.
Very nice--but if I'd chosen instead a meat pie and a cake it would have cost me about half as much.
Healthy eating incentive needed?

Make your own sandwiches like I do. Even cheaper - and more money left over to spend in the pub! |

Well, as every Friday, my elderly residents have just tucked into fried fish, scampi, or sausages with chips or mash followed by Orange Upside Down Cake with ice cream, cream or custard. All in their 80's and 90's and looking good on a lifetime of "bad things to eat"
I resisted of course..... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
