Elaine Page is yet another broadcaster who can't pronounce the word sixth. She joins most of the F1 TV presentation team, Steve Wright team and a whole host of BBC newsreaders who say "sikth" and not "siksth". Or was I brung up wrong????
Not to mention the burgeoning by-product of our schools, colleges and universities who are "bored of" rather than "bored with" or who "would of" been better equipped for employment opportunities if they "would have" listened to their english language teachers.
Right, now for a long lie down in a darkened room I think |

Is there some kind of auto correct going on here? My first "would have" was typed in the more commonly used format of today, ie "oh eff".
Oh eff it anyway. |

Minx,
Yes there IS an auto-correct word-replacement here that changes would o f to would have, it was to stop people relentlessly picking on marc O, and to help him learn to write the phrase properly
Sixth sikth siksth ... well there are variants of everything. For first some will furst, for third some will thurd, for film some will say filum, tomato tom-a-to let's ca.... let's have a pedantry thread like they have at r3ok! |

Yes, there is. JW mentioned it in an attempt to correct Mark O's errors!
Can't say I've noticed the sixth problem though... I shall listen even more enthusiastically to Steve Wright's show. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Minx,
It annoys me when I hear Sikth for Sixth as well. Can't single out anyone in particular, but now that you mention SW, I believe he is one of the culprits!
