I wonder if 2008 will be the year when the excellent Danny Baker is finally brought to Radio 2? He's already made a few appearances on Radio 2 this year AND wrote a documentary for the network.
Danny Baker would be EXCELLENT on Drivetime! Simply move Chris Evans to the 2.00 - 5.00pm in place of His Royal Smugness aka Steve Wright and have The Candy Man on Drivetime!
Evans & Baker In The Afternoon! Pure bliss (for some of us!)! |

Not for me... Steve Wright's Big Show is the best thing on daytime radio! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I think the smug Steve Wright is terrible!
I occasionally catch the last hour of Danny Baker's excellent afternoon show on BBC London. Such a shame he's not on Radio 2 instead!
The nation is being deprived of Danny Baker! |

I was in the car this afternoon with nothing to listen to but the radio (I didn't have any CDs and I forgot my wireless iPod unit). One minute of Steve Wright's utter carp and I felt angry. Driving in peace and quiet has its compensations sometimes.
I got home before that pillock Evans came on, thankfully. There's bad..... and there's really bad. |

Well, I've never heard him on the radio, but if the nation is going to have to pay £5 million for him too; London can keep him! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

5 million? I don't think Danny Baker overcharges like Chris Evans does! |

And you know that for sure do you? Could you possibly tell me this Saturday's Lotto numbers?
If Lesley Douglas can give loudmouth a slot on Radio 2, then there's no reason why she won't do the same for his mate. Remember, in 2004 she listed Danny Baker as one of her top 10 favourite broadcasters. Most from that list have since made it onto Radio 2 since then, so there is hope. Please also take account that Baker was approached by Jim Moir in 1999 to host a Saturday morning show on Radio 2 - much to Lesley Douglas' recommendation. Sadly, the fool turned Moir's offer down. |

J_ROC72, I think that is a very good idea, i would certainly back that idea. I really like D. Baker and cannot understand why evens gets the gig, he really is not that good after all. What do people see in the guy. |

I concur! Danny Baker is by far the better out of him and Chris Evans! I still think Danny Baker can offer Radio 2 much, much more than what Chris Evans does. Plus, Baker has an eclectic taste in music. |

You forgot to mention the Chris Evans issue. The only way to resolve it is for Lesley Douglas to move him off Drivetime and onto a more suitable slot.

That's what if feels like whenever you're kicking off (again).

My opinion of Mr Baker is well known, and therefore I will not repeat it here. _________________ Geddon

Baker is taking over the 6Music Breakfast Show in Jan 2008. A step closer to R2 I guess. Lesley runs both. _________________ Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew... |
