Ross must be off but talk about mumbling along.
She was with Alan Carr and they just seemed to have no direction or focus.
It sounded very amateurish and not what i would normally expect.
20 minutes was enough for me.
Anyone else catch any of it ? _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Yeah, listened to some of it at work with my colleagues. None of us were that impressed and instead elected to play our own form of "beat the intro" on Capital Gold or suchlike. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Switched off at about the same time, Mikeraphone.. Actually, switched off Mo this morning too, particularily annoying this morning. Not a great start to a Saturday, bring on Stuart at 4.30. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

I caught a bit of it and wished I'd had Rick's Place on! Especially when she was slagging off Wakefield.
I only put it on because I'd spent the morning whizzing through the Children In Need bits I taped. _________________ We made a land where crap is king and the good don't last for long.

I caught some of this show today.
Truly dreadful-no structure to the show at all-who chose the music.
I sometimes think the Radio 2 management forget why we listeners tune in-I want to listen to great music not chat, chat, chat.
Looking forward to listening to Dermot and Stuart later today who seem at least to understand why they are behind the microphone. |

I absolutely adore Alan Carr but this morning's show was awful. Perhaps he would have been much better off on his own without Jo Bland sitting next to him holding his hand? Why is she always being brought in whenever Jonathan Ross is off? Mark Lamarr often used to deputise for Wossy on his own. He's an experienced, passionate broadcaster, so he doesn't need Jo Bland sitting next to him dragging him down. |

No he didn't. He used to deputise with Mark Steel, until Brand replaced Steel.
I assume Carr has replaced Lamarr after the dip in ratings when Lamarr stoof in over Summer. |

Alan Carr is one of the many unfunny comedians around today. Somehow they appear on our TV screens with monotonous regularity. Pass the sick bucket, please! |

I certainly hope that isn't the case. For me, the Saturday late morning show is at it's best when Mark Lamarr deputises. He and Jo Brand seem to work very well together and I hope that this double-act returns the next time Jonathan has time off. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Couldn't agree more! Why is it now that TV/Radio seems to think that if you are camp you are immediately funny? |

Maybe get Phil Jupitus to sit in next time..
What i heard today was not up to standard from a Broadcaster such as Radio 2.
3 people talking over each other is not good radio.
Innuendo and cheap gags do not make good radio.
Maybe late night Channel 4 when i am in bed and in no danger of seeing it but for mid morning National radio it is one of the few times i have switched off _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Not great, but I don't think it was that bad, at least they played a few records I liked which is a welcome change from the weekday music
I thought Ray Davies was good and his album sounds good to me from what I heard on the show. |

Maybe - all the stand-ins are from the same agency that makes the show and Phill is one of their acts. Request a Ruts b-side - he loves that

Just listened to it on listen again. Is Play - School back or Rainbow.
Jo Brand is that bad as a comedian, but she's does come across very bland, where is the cheese board? I sure there were plenty other Radio 2 broadcasters who could have stood in for him. Or does it have to be a standup to cover him? Celebrity driven again. Alan Carr no thank you on the radio. Paul O' Grady would have been better!! |

Alan Carr annoys me everytime I see him on TV!
I just don't find him funny at all, although I didn't hear the show.
Joe Brand on the other hand appeals to me. I like her wisely comments, particularly to Mark Lamarr! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Yes, you are right. I forgot about Mark Steel (the equivalent to Andy Davies). I never had a problem with him and Lamarr. Some of their conversations were much better than Wossy and Davies'.
Jo Brand is as dull as dishwater on this show. I have seen her on Paramount Comedy in the past and at times she has had me in stitches whereas other times I have changed channels. I don't rate her on Radio 2 whatsoever.
Maybe she's being lined up as Michael Parkinson's replacement? This wouldn't surprise me if it were to happen because I think Jo Brand is being groomed for a slot on the network. As for Alan Carr, I was very disappointed with him yesterday. On the Friday Night Project (on Channel 4), he's a scream. |

I didn't think that they could do any worse than the cringe-worthy Lamarr, but with Carr they appeared to have scraped the bottom of the barrel |

Ross is such a hard act to replace.
Jo Brand or Lamarr?
I would gladly get rid of Ross and have Allinsons Albums for 3 hours with Richard interviewing artists with new albums and playing 2-3 tracks from each.
Ross and the laughing hyena Davies just waffle too much along with the same old guests time after time.
He may be ok on BBC 1 but Radio is different and if he went i would not be losing any sleep. _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

No, Mark - Ross, Lamarr, Jo Brand, Mark Steel, Alan Carr, Dara O'Briain, Marcus Brigstocke and the other stand-ins are all with Off The Kerb who make Rossy's show. The Comedy Club is something else entirely and also go to Off The Kerb to get their acts. |

I think Jo Brand is great, it's just that she is a "responder" rather than an "initiator" in the radio presentation stakes. She provides a great foil to Mark Lamar, but it sounded and felt like hard work with her having to lead and manage the conversation. Horses for courses - she's a terrific back up but not the lead on this type of show. |
