Suggs has left Virgin Radio less than a year after he started his early afternoon weekday show, prompting a shakeup of the station's schedule.
The Madness frontman is going on tour with his group and is not contracted to return to Virgin Radio next year. His last show went out on the station on Friday.
Suggs will be replaced in early afternoon weekday slot by Neil Francis, who currently presents Virgin Radio's drivetime show. Drivetime will be taken over by Nick Jackson, currently part of Virgin's weekend schedule.
His departure is the latest change to the schedule since Virgin Radio chief executive Paul Jackson left for GCap Media and the arrival of programme director David Lloyd, previously in charge of LBC.
Lloyd has hired former Radio 1 early breakfast presenters JK and Joel, and LBC talk host Iain Lee. They will both begin on the rock music station in the new year.
A spokeswoman for Virgin Radio said Suggs had extensive touring commitments.
"He is still a very good friend of the station and we would welcome him back," she said.
Afternoon Tea with Suggs debuted in January this year as part of a shakeup at the station that saw the departure of drivetime presenter Martin Collins.
Suggs previously presented Virgin's Party Classics show on Friday and Saturday nights. The afternoon slot was his first daily radio show.

Yes this is a shame as Afternoon Tea on Virgin Radio is my preferred listening choice currently.
I listened in today and Neil Francis who is covering this show said that it was VERY LIKELY that Suggs would be returning to Virgin in 2008. |

I suppose its hard to gain momentum if he keeps taking time of to go on tour. The one thing people like about daytime radio, is its predictability, knowing that the same DJ will be there every day at the same time.
Although that can work both ways! _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
