DJ Andy Kershaw has been warned he could face jail after he admitted breaking a restraining order banning him from approaching his ex-girlfriend.
The BBC Radio Three presenter pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of the harassment order involving Juliette Banner at the High Bailiff's Court in Douglas, Isle of Man.
The court heard that he approached Banner and new partner Jim Imrie in his hometown of Peel on the island last month.
He also admitted making use of the telecommunications system between 5 and 7 November, "causing needless anxiety to others".
Kershaw, who lives with his girlfriend Catherine Turner in Rhencullen, Isle of Man, sent text messages "of an abusing nature" aimed at Banner and Imrie to his children Sonny, 10, and Dolly, 8.
He also admitted being drunk and disorderly outside Peel police station on November 7.
High Bailiff Michael Moyle said: "Prison is a real possibility. When we meet on January 15 it might be advisable to have your bags packed. If you wish not to have any further dealings with your children, carry on in the way you're doing."
The case was adjourned for psychiatric and social inquiry reports.
Kershaw, originally from Rochdale, spent a week in prison before a court hearing last week for breaching his bail conditions by breaking a curfew.
He was given a three-month suspended jail term in October after admitting to harassing Banner.
I doubt he will return to BBC Radio 3?

So sad. One wonders what on earth has really driven him to such depths. _________________ Ron |

Sadly, Andy has been jailed for three months today. I hope he gets himself back together and learns from this period, otherwise he has no future in broadcasting. |

Well Mark, the 'poor bloke' clearly thinks trying to reason with his ex-partner is more important than his career. I don't know why he's been refused access to the kids or whatever he may have done that prevents him frm freely meeting his ex-partner, no need to explain to me I'm just sympathasing with his situation. |

I understand what you mean John. If there is any Violence in there relationship the courts take this very serious. Also with his mental state when drinking doesn't help. The problem is the judge and others who represent her will think it's best for the kids to stay with the mother and will be safe with her. I don't understand why Andy can't see his kids at a supervised contact centre, and strange that his solicitor or the judge hasn't recommended this? |
