It's reported that the McCanns are thinking of having a film made about Madeleine's disappearance. Any proceeds would be used to fund the continuing investigation of this.
Not quite sure what this entails, but I hope they'll think carefully about the pros and cons. Justly or otherwise, some may well accuse them of cashing in.

Strange way for suspects to behave isn't it? Is there no level they will stoop to keep their tiresome PR machine oiled. |

They don't even know the start and middle.
Unless it's just going to be a compilation of the photos and videos which they keep producing, like rabbits out of a hat. _________________ Ron |

If my child were missing, I would move Heaven and Earth to find her. I would try anything and everything I could to get her back. Especially when the people in charge of the case seem to have made such a botch job of the investigation, search and the collection of evidence.
Information about this couple has continually been put into the public domain (no doubt in the hope that someone will come forward with the damning piece of evidence they need to prosecute). The couple have not been able to publicly defend themselves against this information. I don't know if the McCanns know what happened to their daughter the night she disappeared but if they do not, such a loss, the investigation and knowing everyone in the world has an opinion as to whether they harmed their daughter or not, must be a living nightmare.
Someone from the trust was on the news saying that if this happens and it is by no means a certainty that it will. It will not a big Hollywood style film but rather a documentary. What form it would take or if it could be released whilst the ongoing investigation is taking place is a another question but I can understand them wanting to document the facts. _________________ Put some records on while I pour |

I'm afraid I find the notion of making a film about this distasteful to say the least. |

Agree MM this is a very strange case to say the least. A documentary just smacks of publicity, but why? There is so much International media concern it isn't needed. |

I've already seen about half a dozen docus about this incident but I'd like to know a bit more about all the other friends of theirs who were saying at the same hotel. Why don't we know more about them? Were they all interviewed and eliminated from inquiries? If McCanns 'direct' a docu they'll be light on their friends, eh? |

"If McCanns 'direct' a docu they'll be light on their friends, eh?"
I didn't know they were supposed to be directing it themselves.
I was playing devils advocate I guess. It's sad reality in this day and age that our reaction to hearing news like this is for sympathy to quickly wain and to suspect the parents of wrong doing. I'm not stupid I know this does happen. I also know that there are people who have been wrongly imprisioned or lived their lives under suspision of doing such a thing, only to be found to be innocent years later. I find the trail by media, rumour and one leaked snippet of info after another, just as distasteful as any possible documentary.
Don't get me wrong if proven guilty throw the book at them and the key away. But if I put myself in their shoes and assume their innocence is given for a second. I can't even begin to imagine the anguish . Ignore me, probably an overactive maternal instinct kicking in _________________ Put some records on while I pour |

I'm with you Heloise, to lose a child is like having your heart and soul ripped out, yet to not know if your child is still alive and if not how your child died or whether your child suffered in death must be even worse, and this I cannot begin to imagine.
I will believe in their innocence until they are proven otherwise, you may think I am naive, sooner that than cynical.

I would love her to be found alive, no matter what she may have been through, and to be returned to her parents. |

Absolutely Briant, a child is the most precious thing in the world, they bring you the most heartache and the most joy and if you lose one, you never, ever, recover.
