Did anyone hear Johnnie Walker having to cover for Stuarts show who is in for Ken on Fridays show? Stuart was late and turned up at 9.45am, and sounded very hungover and slurring his words. It sounded painful listening. Apparently he left his phone on do not disturb and got a phone call saying he was late.
Johnnie just laughed the whole thing off, playing a few songs. When Stuart finally turned up from the Hotel next door he said "he had Man flu, but it sounded a genuine hangover. |

It was really funny, especially Johnnie's "This is Johnnie Walker, sitting in for Stuart Maconie, sitting in for Ken Bruce"!
Johnnie was already on top form though.

It was very enjoyable radio, and good fun. Stuart's probably exhausted after his "Boss" joke earlier this week.
(Actually, I don't think he was hungover: that's an unfair thing to say Mark O. He's sounded full of flu all week and clearly it has taken it's toll). |

It was Ian! It felt like the Radio 2 that we used to have before they became even more PC than PC itself.

It was amusing but I don't think Stuart was hung over, he has been ill this week.
He also said the Dr had said he should be off but the message didn't get through. So he may have thought someone was going to cover him.
Once he was settled, he sounded ok - but there was a lot of excellent music and less chat than usual!

Hi RB,
I noticed that the music was really good this morning as well, and I didn't think he was hungover either.

He mentioned that he wasn't too well at some stage during Friday morning's show - I forget exactly when. He didn't sound too bad to me, just slightly throaty. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I loved it when Johnnie played I'm only sleeping by the Beatles when he found out Stuart would be late.
By the way, what was the Boss joke? |

Johnnie said he'd accidentally played two Bruce Springsteen songs, because he really wanted to play some Bruce. Stuart replied that "you know what's it's like - you wait all day for the boss then 2 come along at once..." |

Also played two Paul McCartney songs one day, Maybe I'm Amazed and Every Night, both on the same album, though, strangely, the listing says they took the latter off a compilation.
No Glenn Miller though this time! _________________ Ron |
