I don't know how Magic London can compete up against Smooth London? Smooth go live at 7am and Magic at 8am although is Magic live or voice tracked from 8am, know one really knows?

Although Magic was nominating the London airwaves for a while and do play some good music, I do think they are going to lose some ground in the listening figures.

I know Capital and Heart are part of the main stations in London, but they play to a different audience. I'm talking about the two named above who play more of a wider variety of music.

I think Smooth London is going to push a lot of them off the dial? Even Smooth Radio in general across the UK.

Had Smooth on at work for a while. But one of my colleagues kept changing it to Capital.
We've now reached a compromise & listen to Heart. Not too bad, they play alot of Shania & LeAnn.
I do like Magic, but they tend to play the same tracks forever.
Smooth play a good, wide range of music.
On DAB I sometimes listen to Easy
On the net, I listen to american country radio

Smooth seem to have a good sound and some good presenters who seem to have something interesting to say as well.

Magic has always been the station that is played when people want background music or dont want to upset customers in cabs, shops, cafes, etc. The songs get played on very high rotation. If you want to develop an abiding hatred for Michel Buble's "Home", try listening to Magic for a few days.

Magic, Heart, Century, Smooth - how many variations of Bland do we really need? As you say, shop/hotel background.

Capital is still London's premier pop station, though whenever I listen to it (digital or online) there seems to be a technical problem which causes the discs to skip.

As soon as it was released (on Buble's It's Time album) I picked out Home as being different from his usual big-band-crooner material and ideal for one of Nashville's finest to pick up and cover with more of a country feel. Just don't blame me for the fact that it was Louis Walsh who obviously thought it ideal for Westlife Rolling Eyes

Thank you for that, Clive, so he has - it's a new release in the US by the looks of things, not in the chart yet, and not on an existing album. It has been promoted by appearances in duet with Michael Buble.
