Simon Mayo is sitting in for Ken from April 7-11.The previous week hes doing drivetime for Chris Evans. This is very interesting since hes never done this kind of holiday cover before on radio 2-could t hey be lining him up for his own daily show.maybe hes getting a bit fed up being on radio Five Live?Itll be nice to hear Simon on in the mornings again for the first time since he left Radio One 7 years ago. However Simons own show Music Club is being f dropped from the schedule after monday march 31.(Incidentally Gabby Logan is doing Simons Five Live show while he's doing kens) |

It is interesting as Simo Mayo is also rumoured as a possible presenter for BBCtv's Breakfast programme to replace Dermot Murnaghan. Seems like he will be very busy. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I don't think he's getting fed up on 5Live - just examining his options before the Salford move. His show is the highest-rated on 5Live and still going strong.
This stand-in stint just fits in with the seemingly new policy of getting those already under BBC contract to cover, rather than freelancers like Richard Allinson or Mark Goodier (like in the old days). |

Ahhh... Allinson seems to be back in favour. But there was a long period when he got nothing. I assume they built something into the contract when The Record Producers run was extended. |

Simon was rushing on Good Friday from Five Live as he just finished at 4pm to Radio 2 studios. He's not on Five this week.
It is interesting Simon is now covering. Glad he's back covering Music Radio. Simon Mayo for Breakfast |

Good show got all most everything out of the way in the first half hour from the listeners.
How not to play Popmaster
Refering to the Golden Hour 1986 ( Nice one )
Email from someone talking about 5 Live and going back to Music Radio DJ
All though he was trying to be like Ken is too Lynn I think she's not that soft to take it..
Good Music. More Mayo.. ... I'm not saucy.. |

Must admit I prefer him to Aled as cover.
Allinson's not too bad but always seems to struggle with Popmaster.
Overall quite a good effort from Mr. Mayo so far. |
