Just listening to this afternoon's 'Mark and Forbes' show... and was pleasantly surprised to hear the announcement that next week he'll be presenting the show with TV's own Sally Lindsay - dear old Corrie's Shelley who always made a fine pairing with Mark whenever she's been on his evening shows. Looking forward to it. |

Can't say I've heard of her but I hope to be listening next week. Missed yesterday's show but this afternoon's show is very enjoyable. The more I hear of Mark Radcliffe the more I like him.
He would make an excellent Drivetime presenter.... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I think Mark (and Stuart) would be wasted on daytime, personally. The evening show plays more to their talents - educating the listener and discovering music with us away from the shackles of the playlist. Mark offers a great show covering for Wright, but I would hate to lose the range that he offers in the evening. Of course, Mark and Stuart are funny people too - and have great radio persoanlities - so they do work in daytime...but they're a rarer breed of presenter. Steve Wrights are ten a penny after all...unfortunately

Yes, good point. I've only heard small snippets of their evening show but it sounds great with great music too. I must make time to listen to evening R2 more..

Definitely! both come across to me as really likeable people unlike some I could think of.

can't agree there.... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I do love Mark & Stuart's show but prefer Mark to Wrighty so I'm in a quandry!
Can live without Emma Forbes though... I'm glad Sally Lindsey's taking over next week. |

Fair point, but didn't a certain Mr.JW do this on his drivetime show with many featured live performances? Sure, some were playlist material, but having a daytime show with featured live sessions that certainly introduced new music to many millions of people was hardly playlist-standard stuff.
Whatever happens, Stuart needs that Saturday show back!
As a further point, I remember Radcliffe leaving (or gently pushed from) R1, much owing to his (and Mark Riley's) dislike of their repetitive playlist. At least he gets some greater freedom on R2, even if this station's not as big on its album track playlist as it might once have been. |

You're right - JW did manage it with drivetime - so perhaps RadMac could carry over their stylings to daytime.
Okay - in which case - RacMac for breakfast! Seen as Stuart lost out on being president of Zimbabwe.

Another excellent show this afternoon with Mark and, although I don't know who she is, Sally! they really had me smiling listening to them clown about. ( I do like their accents )
I got the feeling they thought it went well too judging by the amount of laughs they had. Looking forward to tomorrow's show. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

And she admitted to being one of St Winifred's School Choir that sang 'There's No-one Quite Like Grandma' one Christmas in the early 1980s. I'm not sure if she was the lead singer or not. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I don't think she was the lead singer, but when they run the TOTP footage she's easy to spot.
She's also in the terrible new BBC Three sketch show "Scallywagga" with other Phoenix Nights co-stars. |

I enjoyed Mark with Sally more than him being with Emma.
Watch out Wrighty. They are good |

I'll agree with that Mark, they were excellent together. I like these double acts, makes for a more enjoyable show altogether. I was really laughing at times.
I don't think Wrighty's got any worries but if he was to be replaced by Mark Radcliffe I'd be happy with it.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I enjoy Steve's show in the background through the afternoon but must say I have been swayed by the duo of Mark and Sally over the week. They made it more personal and much more fun than Steve does. If R2 announced Steve wasn't coming back and Rad and Sally were carrying on I wouldn't give two half time hooters!
Now I've seen how much better the slot can be filled I think it's time Wrighty stepped down. Good shows Steve and lot's of SW's but time to go sunshine.
Can't see it happening soon though _________________

Strangely I didn't like Mark's late night show when Sally was on, but I've caught a few bits this week and they have been good.

I enjoyed this weeks' shows to last, pity old big head is back tomorrow! Sorry to the original "old big ead", he was truly talented, IMHO, the best manager England never had.
