Why do we always hear what sounds like a live version of Gimme Some Lovin', and never the original hit single ? It happened again last night, when Mark Radcliffe played it. |

Pass. i-Player's not working this morning so I can't Listen Again, but I suspect it's the American re-mix, which appears on Steve Winwood's Keep On Running / Best of... compilation, amongst others. "Extra production work, including background vocals and percussion, was added via Jimmy Miller".
Just doesn't sound right, does it? _________________ Ron |

"Gimmi Some Lovin" contains all the ingredients I craved in those days. I couldn't get enough of it.
I loved the opening bass line and those first powerful chords on the organ were fantastic to my ears.
I remember getting annoyed with our bass player at the time because I wanted him to "slide off" the 6th note as I insisted the original did... he said it didn't and persisted in playing a cut off note.
It was, and is, one of my favourite tracks... and louder the better! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Last week's SOTS once again played the remixed version. So I've sent a tape of the original to Phil Swern, but haven't heard back yet! |
