I was recently reminded of a piece performed by a colleague arranger/bandleader, it may appeal to members of a certain age (or from two ages.....)
What you will hear is, I suppose, an 'anachronistic' music arrangement in one style, of two tunes from another genre.
1. Name the tunes (the vocals make naming the first tune rather easy....) and the original artistes
In the soundclip the performance is in the style of a one-time popular artiste
2. Name the artiste whose style is employed
Click to play
My colleague has permitted me to share this soundclip, it's 2 mins long (~2meg mp3), was performed/recorded in 1974.

Well, I'll get no prize for identifying a great version of Barry White's You're The First, The Last, My Everything, but naming the artiste who's style has been borrowed defeats me. I know it's probably 1920s but it sounds like Kenny Ball!
Second tune also eludes me for the moment, and every other time I go to play the thing my PC crashes. Not doing very well, am I? _________________ Ron

It is a bit like Prima but the band say it's in the style of Fats Waller! |

Hey, well done you two.
I'm now going to put the same teaser to the group I'm in for collectors of old-time jazz/dancebands of the 1920s/30s. See what they come up with. I'll let you know

Thanks John, I'm glad you said it was the right one ( spelt incorrectly too! stupid boy... )
I was still trying to think of alternatives until now.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
