Hurrah! Some light music on the way next Tuesday when DC includes music by Eric Coates.
I'll be away so recording will be a must.

Will be interesting to see how he manages to fill the half hour with the usual diverse styles. Apart from the obvious light orchestral, male vocal and military, I can't think of a modern use of his music. _________________ Ron |

Thanks, RockitRon.
By the Sleepy Lagoon has been recorded by quite a variety of artistes. Karl Denver made a version in the sixties! And the Dam Busters March has been made into a hymn, God Is Our Strength and Refuge. That said, I agree that it may be more difficult to hit a note of diversity than is sometimes the case. But I still want to hear this.

This was broadcast on Tues 12 Aug.
I recorded it and for various reasons have only just got round to listening.
As was implied above, it was more difficult to strike a note of variety than is sometimes the case on DC's programmes, though the inclusion of Doris Day singing Sleepy Lagoon was a brilliant idea. Also, several works weren't featured in their entirety and some of the editing was a bit jarring. I was pleased, though, that they let us hear all of Elizabeth of Glamis. On the whole this was a very enjoyable hour, which just flew past. One must thank R2 for programming some light music--now how about a regular supply?
