Former BBC Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas, who quit the corporation over the "Sachsgate" affair, is to join Universal Music UK.

Douglas will become director of programming and business development at the music company, which has a rota of best-selling artists including Amy Winehouse, Duffy and the Killers.

Cool beans!!

" She runs on Steam!!- you can't keep a good executive down!"

Which is probably why I'm sat here at home, playing on the internet, instead of brow-beating moronic corporate-yes-men senseless with my wit, wisdom, and keen eye on where to lead the organisation next......

If only LD would take Evans, Ross, and Lamb away from the BBC, we'd have something good to remember her by... Laughing

Never mind less Evans, etc. - I think we're more likely to hear even more Winehouse, Duffy and Killers on Radio 2. If that's actually possible.

The remarks of Universal's chairman underline what the industry has thought of Lesley Douglas for a long time, and I suspect that he can scarcely believe his luck that she has become available and can play a leading role in the world's biggest recording company (and growing bigger by market share by the day).

The article mentions the BBC Trust investigation, and the Sunday papers had a field day going through it with a fine toothcomb. Ultimately she was let down by the people she appointed under her, who might have been expected to have done better - the production and compliance managers, and Ross and Brand, especially Jonathon Ross.

I am still very angry about Ross. It is said that both he and Brand vigorously supported the broadcasting of the recording, and this undoubtedly had a bearing on the decisions which were made up the ladder. But he knew, as soon as he'd uttered those words, that they were wrong, and he should have stopped it right there and then. (I know I sound like a record that has got stuck, but it was so darned obvious!!!)
He was effectively responsible for LD leaving the Beeb.

Still, every cloud has a silver lining. I suspect LD has certainly found hers. Who is going to provide Radio 2's?

What could they do at Universal? How about adding Ross with them as he would be an idiot to come back to Radio 2.

Jobs for the bhoys (sic) It's not what you know, it's who you know! It's like when politicians leave office, they get 'looked after.'
What musical changes did she bring to Radio 2? Did she widen the scope or just inflict playlists and repetition? No, she employed unsuitable personalities and came unstuck.

I wonder when they will appoint a new controller as it's not advertised yet?

Cleaners, make the tea, I don't care, just so long as they're no longer on my radio station of choice. Chuck in Steve Wright for good measure and make it a buy 4-get 1 free deal!

She's been doing it for quite some time and appeared in the TV ads. I don't think she's as good in that slot as Matthew Wright was - the show doesn't flow very well, and she doesn't half gabble on.

Yes, I remember her in the TV ad... I've only really seen her on "Strictly Take 2" and I think she's quite funny on that. At least her voice doesn't grate on me like Ms Ball...
