Easter Monday
As Above In Morning
1-4pm People Chart
Quote: | In this three-hour special for Easter Monday, Rob Brydon presents an exclusive countdown of the UK's most-heard recordings of the last 75 years. These are the records that have 'outplayed' all others, not just on the radio but everywhere that music is heard in public, from the high street to hospital radio, and beyond. The chart has been produced by PPL, the industry body that licenses recorded music on behalf of more than 3500 record companies. 2009 marks PPL's 75th anniversary, and this special chart is being revealed first on Radio 2, as Rob presents a characteristically light-hearted look at the records that have been spun the most in clubs, pubs, supermarkets, stadia, on jukeboxes, everywhere, since 1934. It's a chart overflowing with surprises, which truly reflects the history of recorded music, not just in the rock and pop era but with songs from the crooning, show tune and big band eras. There are three songs from the 1950s in the top ten including one at Number Three, not to mention a top ten entry from 1942. Rob also reveals eyebrow-raising entries for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and three tracks by a modern British superstar. There's great drama as we count up towards unveiling the big Number One, with reminiscences along the way from many of the artists whose records have qualified for the rare honour of making the all-time top 75. There is new interview material from Queen's Roger Taylor, Candi Staton, Graeme Clark of Wet Wet Wet, Tony Mortimer from East 17, Eddy Amoo of the Real Thing and many others, plus a rare new chat with Don Everly of the Everly Brothers, culminating with the announcement of the People's Chart Number One. |
4-6pm Richard Allinson
6-7pm Record Producers |

Absolutely fantastic to see Richard in play on Easter Monday.
The Bank Holiday would clearly be poorer without his broadcasting contibution.
Here's hoping that members on here tune in to hear a proper professional presenter in action. |

Seconded, that man!
Let's hope there's a distinct lack of ginger-headed rentagobs. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

In addition to these, Jonathan Ross's Saturday morning show will be presented by David Tennant and Catherine Tate, with guests John Barrowman and The Proclaimers. By a curious coincidence, there's a new Doctor Who episode broadcast that night. |

Where would we be without cross promotion?!
The line up does indeed look good for next weekend, glad to see the return of record producers again! |

Great to see another in the Record Producers series going out on Easter Monday.
Richard Allinson will be profiling the career of one Roy Wood-personally I thought this guy only had one song from his Wizzard days-so it should be an interesting show.

Roy Wood was about much more than just Wizzard - he was a founder member of ELO for a start. Should be an interesting listen. _________________ MiS |
