MPs are set to take 82 days off for there Summer Break. Are our MP and even the PM are unaccountable for this long break with the expenses scandal still looming? That means they are off until October.
I remember when Tony Blair used to take his Holidays and John Prescott was in charge of the country. So who's in charge when Gordon Brown takes his Holiday? |

You need to undertake a little more research into what MPs do during the Summer recess. They're not "off" until October.
My own MP spends a lot of time dealing with issues in his large constituency, which he can't devote as much time to during his time in the Commons. I'm sure this is the case with many others.

Other members of the Cabinet and senior civil servants at No.10 and in the various government departments, perhaps? And I'm sure he uses such things as mobile communications (telephones, fax machines, baked bean tins on bits of string, semaphore flags, etc) to keep in touch with number 10 in order to ensure that the cat gets fed. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Mark, that's not very nice, I think Colby's repsonse to your silly question(s) was very full and informative.
Mark, you seem to post questions here as if there is 'no answer', and when you get 'the answer' it's a shrug or whatever from you.
Just for the record then, did you read Colby's response and understand it? Do you know what your own MP is doing this summer in your constituency?
My MP is the Labour Member of Parliament for Coventry North East, and also the Secretary of State for Defence - I know for sure he is not 'off' till October!

In defence of Mark O, I don't think his question "who runs the country while PM is away" was silly. When TB was away, there was always a big thing made of John Prescott being at the controls. I suspect the reason this is not the case now is because GB doesn't relinquish any of his hold on Government. He won't be having much of a break, with all the constant phone calls and briefings from No. 10 and Whitehall. _________________ MiS |
