JW on 5.2 million listeners. So JW was attracting new listeners back then. He certainly proved that you can also build a great drivetime show and people will come.
Not wishing to do down Johnnie, but doesn't that report cover the period either during or just after Stuart Maconie's lengthy stint while Johnnie was ill? That's got to be a contributing factor.
On the contrary, it was over a year since he had returned, and we know RAJARS come out quarterly.
Stuart(and/or other standins) had at one point lost 160000 listeners. When JW returned (march 04), the next RAJARS had him at a personal record of 5 million.
The report I pasted in my first response was May 2005, over a year after JW had returned to drive, then up to 5.21 million.
If nothing else, it makes it look even better for JW, Ian!
