Why "no doubt"? |
You beat me to that question! Where does "no doubt" come from?

More to the point, how can a 42-year-old keep up the pretence of being a 21-year-old radio DJ?

That'll be it, then. Thanks for the quick response to my question - and to the peace of mind that ensues! _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Noticed that the BBC schedules have Sarah off all this week - and Aled in. I miss Sarah, I hope she isn't carted out in the changes. |

I think you might be right. There's something increasingly ominous about her continued absence. Given that she and Terry are close friends as well as colleagues there's no doubt that he wouldn't have talked it through with her some time ago at the same time that he was in discussion with R2 management.
I wonder if she'll actually return to present her show at all? The plot thickens!
There's evidently a lot of disquiet among presentation staff at R2 at the moment, not surprisingly. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I know they are close and I can imagine her being upset at his departure. as to whether she will return well who knows, she is due back next week but then again..... |

I suspect she will return next week as the status quo remains. She will have Terry to talk to 'on the squawk box'. I can't imagine her being too thrilled at the prospect of Chris Evans, but then again I don't know. I do have this mental image of her having to hold her headphones about a foot away from her ear while wincing when talking on the 'squawk box' next January. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I will be amazed if Sarah stays on when Wogan goes. It just won't happen. AS I've said before, I expecy the ghastly Evans to start at 7, probably preceded by Alex 4-7.
To me, Evans' voice is exactly like fingernails on a blackboard, so I will be searching for pastures new until Ken comes on. _________________ MiS |

Good question H! If anyone has any recommendations, they'd be gratefully received. I have got so used to Sarah's newspaper review then Wogan's banter, it's going to be a real sea-change. _________________ MiS |

I fear that, come January 2010, it might be a case of "if" Ken comes on. I don't think Mr. R2 Controller has finished the job yet. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

I've been reading some of the interviews that Ken Bruce has been giving in support of his book that he's negotiating a contract through to 2012. He doesn't want to be tied to a job long term, so the end date is his choice, not the BBC's.

Nah, Ken played "I Will Survive" this morning and joked it was his theme song. |

He also said on Michael Ball's show on Sunday that he would be around for some time yet.

I don't know - on air, Chris and Sarah are very adoring of each other - Sarah claims that Chris is her bedtime show. I sometimes feel though that Chris is slightly taking the mick... especially when he kept making shady references during her 'gardening leave' last year (or was that two years ago...?). But I remember him playing some of Sarah's best bits on his show before. |

Good to hear Sarah back this morning and obviously now recovered from what sounds like something nasty.

I may have missed it (the confirmation as opposed to the speculation) elsewhere on this forum, but SK confirmed this morning that she is will be finishing her show at 7.00am when CE takes over.
I don't see the point of this unless (as I read somewhere) it is a deliberate attempt to manipulate the listening figures by assessing them over a longer period.
Personally, I wouldn't be bothered (expletive deleted ) to get up at that unearthly time for just one hour.
And has SK said what was wrong with her, other than that she was in hospital and they saved her life? _________________ Minx

From the way she announced her new finishing time it seems she was none too delighted with the change - she said ".... when Evans starts........" not exactly chummy. I agree Minx it hardly seems worth getting up that unearthly time of day to do a one hour programme. |

I don't think she was overwhelmed with the finish time at 7am. I can't see Dawn Patrol will be on for just an hour. |

It depends whether or not she's willing to get out of bed a bit earlier, because the obvious adjustment is 5 or 5.30 til 7. Not everyone will be completely happy about that, though _________________ Ron |

I'd think a considerable amount won't be. If you listen to SK's comments on her listeners, it's soon apparent that not all of them listen to the whole show, which is why she tends to repeat a fair bit of stuff. Quite a few seem to tune in at 7am and my guess is they'd far sooner switch off than listen to Evans' ranting.
I suspect there may well be some backlash from Alex's devotees too if his slot is curtailed. |

Sarah was a high profile show with good ratings, apparently the show will be moved around to accomandate Mr Evans and his crew. The guy isn't that special and the BBC shouldn't be chasing ratings against commercial radio. The BBC is a public funded organsiation and are pushing the listeners to the back to run against there rivals.
It's a bloody disgrace. |

I quite like Evans, but I agree with you on this.
I really like Sarah Kennedy's show & would be quite happy for it to be extended to 8AM.
I think she is a very good broadcaster & must be miffed. Does that mean her show will just be one hour long?
I prefer her to wogan, and tho I enjoy Evans' Drivetime, think her show would rest easier on me for Breakfast than even the Mighty Evans |
