Enjoyed Bill Bailey's classical favourites programme early afternoon, but wasn't looking forward to Tony Blackburn and Cilla Black's Great British Songbook. In fact it wasn't that bad. Cilla is as wooden as ever when she's not ad-libbing, but some of their reminiscences were quite interesting.
And now listening to Shirley Bassey's Electric Proms again. It's been a varied programme and a very good listen. For a change _________________ Minx

Bil Bailey--quite a treat. Inevitably there was some editing of the music but this was quite thoughtfully carried out.
60s Songbook--great music but I thought the presentation was rather banal.

Followed on by Paul Gambacini and Barbara Streisand.
Sometimes you just have to wonder what kind of conclusions R2 management made about today's potential audience, compared with a normal programming day. When you consider the range of today's programmes with the endless repetitious play-list offerings we normally get, you just feel that you'd like to see their justification encapsulated in an official statement.
Would it go something like "well, we didn't think anyone would be listening so we just chucked a load of old stuff on" . Or maybe, "the normal daytime thirty something workers who listen on the job are probably on holiday, so now we'll revert back to the ones we used to cater for".
Or maybe "what the hell, just play something, anything"? No sorry, isn't that the maxim for normal R2 broadcasting". _________________ Minx
