Most conclusions seem fair but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Essentially:
More diverse music (especially during peak time)
Don't neglect older listeners
Improve the comedy
Less celebs
What we've been saying for years! Lets hope the R2 management pay attention. |

Bob Shennan's initial response doesn't suggest a change in the pop/chart dominance of the daytime schedules, he talks about building bridges to make listeners AWARE, but that will not serve older listeners. _________________ -

Bob Shennan hasn't a clue how to run a music station IMHO that is John!

I don't see more diverse music or less celebs I'm afraid, to me it says very little to get excited about |

Everybody I know who still listens to Radio 2 just want a more diverse selection of music, not arts and comedy during the day.
I like old and new music but all we get at the moment is Leona Lewis, Cast of Glee, Mika, Mary J Blige, Lady Gaga,Robbie Williams etc.
Jeremy Vine said to David Liddiment that if you were out on the street and heard a radio playing you could instantly tell it was Radio 2.
Going by the above list how on earth can he say that, it's the same as any other 3rd rate commercial station? |

I am not impressed that they want to get rid of 6 Music. I like the Freak Zone, Gideon Coe and Lauren Laverne, but they're not likely to play anything by Robbie Williams or Saint Cheryl of the Bathroom are they? _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

The 6Music Preservation Society! Let's put Radio 2 down as a lost cause and rally around a truly unique broadcasting gem...
Well after next week... seen as we've given the gift of a week without Chris. |

I won't know myself with being able to set the radio alarm for the first time since January 11th!

It's not worth the BBC trust reviewing 6 Music if they are going to shut it. It's a crazy idea to close the only successful Digital Station the BBC has. |

70 million citizens - 680,000 listeners... I don't think so.
Sad to close any station but if the BBC are looking to save £600m then there will have to be cut backs - maybe even the Radio 2 Message Boards.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

BBC 7 is far more successful than 6 Music, Mark.

I am not sure about 6music, it should be good with some great music but I can never find what's on and some of the DJs are just dire.
Great potential but I wouldn't miss it at the moment if they shut it |

Some of the DJ's are excellent-Gideon Coe and Shaun Keaveny to name but two, and both of whom have had the occasional run out on Radio 2 as cover for Bob Harris and Dermot O'Leary respectively.
Both of these guys would fit well into the Radio 2 schedules at the expense of some of the existing dead wood. |

'Oh, the dead wood stage is a-coming up over the plain...'
I wouldn't miss Dermot O'Leary or Zoe 'Mother Of The Year' Ball if they were axed. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

The only one i can see working well on R2 is Gideon Coe,that's not to say the others are not good but Coe did an excellent job covering for Bob and didint sound out of place.Hopefully though we could be wasting our time as they may not shut down R6 _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |

I don't get to listen to 6music much but the Craig Charles funk and soul show is the best 3hrs of radio on any network all week, IMHO of course. |
