Really nice to hear Richard on the radio again covering the Dawn Patrol Show on Friday (9/4).
Sarah Kennedy has the worst sick record by far of all the presenters on Radio 2. Is it time now for the BBC Management to take a good long hard look at her contract with perhaps a view to replace her with a more reliable weekday presenter ie one who turns up for work more regularly.
Perhaps the unsociable hours of the Dawn Patrol Show are taking their toll on Sarah-perhaps moving her to a weekend slot might suit her better.
My preference for a replacement for Sarah would be Lynn Parsons- a fine presenter.

NO.
Sarah has a very large faithful following. Sadly, she is prone to illness - some of us know how that feels.
I wish her a speedy recovery and many more years Dawn Patrolling. _________________ MiS |

I was really surprised that Richard didn’t do Thursday morning; it’s rumoured that he sleeps in the foyer of Broadcasting House just in case he’s needed for exactly that kind of eventuality but then when I heard that the text system was broken on Thursday morning, the penny dropped, he must have pretended to be asleep cos we know he can’t do a show if there are no texts to read out. Why they bother with him at all is beyond me. |

On Friday we had two very good radio presenters working back to back on R2.
And then Evans came on at 7.00am to spoil it all. |

He’s bland and mostly inoffensive which makes him safe as a short-term stand-in I guess but that doesn’t mean he’s any good. Perhaps his usp is that he's cheap and available. |

The only reason I could imagine is there was know time to call in someone else to cover. We know it doesn't do Sarah any favours. You just can't sack someone for being sick. |

How do you know he is cheap?-you don't.
Have you seen his contract/payslip?-no you haven't. You are talking nonsence.
There are plenty of listeners who like him-check out other sites etc. |

Who are you moaning at Mark. Know one no's anyones contract. He's a very good broadcaster and very much liked. Please stop making out people are gods. Like I said "I bet Sarah must have rang in late for someone to be called up. You need plenty of notice to get up and across London where ever you live. |

Sorry how on earth do you know about someones personal life. You moan about Sarah and when someone mentions about Richard Allinson you are the first to jump. Please stop doing this when you critise about others. |

I have never been SK's greatest fan but have warmed to her,it does have to be said that she does have a lot of time off sick and i do hope she is better but think that someone else ie Mr Lester should be given the gig full time and Alinson the 0200 0500 shift _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |

Sk does a great show, it's a pity she is not well so often. Let's hope she stays at R2 for a while yet |

I think she will be moved to presenting a show at the weekends soon.
Presenting the Dawn Patrol Show is perhaps too much for her these days. |

I think the fact that the post was prefaced with the words "I think" probably precludes it from needing to quote a source Mark? |

Maybe Sarah might leave in the near future. There are NO plans for her to be sacked or moved to weekends, because she's off sick more than some presenters at the station. Those things could be personal and we shouldn't judge. |

Perhaps 'R2 Extra' could be named 'Radio Allinson', with 24/7 Allinson for his die hard fan(s) |

Well I like listening to Richard Allinson. His show on Radio York is a must for me as well. If I am working all weekend I do try to catch it on Listen Again. I would rather have him reading out texts than some of the other idiots who shout and screech their way through a show. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Me too. A lot of critics forget that a show's format is often decided by the programme's producer in line with the station controller's policy. If he has to make it "interactive" (the current BBC buzzword - heaven knows why) then "interactive" it has to be.
If Richard Allinson was suddenly told to do a show that consisted of only him and the music, then he'd do so quite happily (as would some of the other presenters like Alex Lester, Ken Bruce, et all).
However, the likes of Chris Evans and Jonathan Ross would have great difficulty in doing a "one man show", I suspect. That, for me, differentiates a good broadcaster from a hanger-on. |
