Just to let you that I'm now signing off for a bit, as I have to go into hospital for an op.
I don't think I'll be off the computer for too many days.
See you when I return.

Wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery Ian.. I'd be asking if I could have the op whilst listening to SOTS on the headphones!
Looking forward to seeing you back all mended... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Thanks for good wishes, everyone.
I was done and dusted as a day case on Friday and am now recuperating at home.
Very tired and a bit sore, so shan't be fully back into everything for a few weeks.
The current weather is hardly an incentive to try going out.

Excellent news, glad to hear you are up and about already Ian. Try to take things easy, I know it's boring but it will be better for you in the long run. |

Ian,
Just heard your dedication on Ken Bruce, so that's you told to rest up or else!!
Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks. Yes, it was I!
I am starting to feel a bit better after my op but the situation is complicated a bit by the fact that I've also got what we think may be sciatica in my left upper leg, making it difficult to sit for long periods. Painkillers aren't giving much relief. Doctor's appointment on Friday.
But I'm trying to obey the order to rest as much as I can--not easy when I'm used to being active.
Thanks for good wishes.

Thanks for these good wishes.
Am still on the sick and having some tests on Monday.
Still managed to hear SOTS today, of course--very comforting. So was hearing one of my desert island works, Faure's Requiem, on Classic FM this afternoon.

Thanks for further good wishes.
I went to see my GP this morning and got a sicknote for another 2 weeks. At the end of that time I'm due a week's holiday (staying at home) and hope to return to work and normal society after Easter.
My next course of medical treatment will be complete bed rest from 8 to 10am tomorrow. My named practitioner is a Nurse Matthew. His treatment was extremely effective last Saturday.

Alas, more problems! Have to go to Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, for a couple of day patient procedures tomorrow, so may be off here for a day or two. Back with you soon.

I'm now home from hospital and expect to be off work for a bit to recuperate.
Needless to say, I still managed to wake up for SOTS this morning!

Pleased to say I'm back at work.
Even more pleased to say that the cyst being investigated isn't cancerous, as we originally thought it might be.
Will need further hospital treatment at a later date but otherwise things are back to normal.
