That's hardly surprising though, is it. What it signifies is that the Tories and the LibDems are on the cusp of a deal so Brown and the Labour Party are effectively conceding. |

Do you really think they are conceding though Colin?
I wouldn't trust Nick Clegg after this (not that I did before!).

I think Clegg and Co. are obviously milking it for all they can get, but if a Lab/LibDem pact were to work, they'd have to muster every bit of support from every corner just to gain a slight working majority, so I have a sneaky suspicion that there'll be a Tory/LibDem pact pretty soon.
Of course, Brown's stepping down as Labour Leader is a clever move because it keeps the Tory press critics at bay - those who have been accusing him of "squatting" at No.10 (clearly nonsense) and baying for his resignation - and it also means that the party can spin things out for ages even as a new Government is formed/found.
I could be wrong, of course...

I think there'll be a lot of LibDem members at his throat if he does a deal that effectively sells them down the river - such as if compromises on the party's avowed commitment to electoral reform.
I think another election in the Autumn is a certainty! |
