How funny you should mention the "light in the fridge"! My little grand-daughter asked me recently: "Why is the light always on in the fridge?" to which I replied "It isn't on. It goes off when you close the door". So she then asked the inevitable: "Open the door and let me see". So I did. I was still on......... she was right. |

I think a virtual party is called for, to start when the other place that we have escaped from shuts it's doors for the last time. |

The above is quoted from a message on another thread.
Did the above R2 poster ever manage to sort out their registration problem? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I think the fact that several people have signed up since that was posted indicates that it was a user's PC-related problem rather than a system problem on the server side.
I checked the registration page in different browsers and on different operating systems (Apple Mac, Windows 7, Windows XP) and encountered no problem with the Captcha text window, so the problem lay somewhere else (Internet Explorer, perhaps? It wouldn't surprise me).
It works fine in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on both main platforms. |

Yes Soulsister, it's a picture of two large Santa Fe engines taken near Los Angeles.. I was lucky enough to travel behind one of them back in May. Born in the wrong time maybe! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

My son was driving from Los Angeles up to Las Vegas last week, and he managed to get some video footage of a massively long goods train that just doesn't seem to end! (It wasn't, alas, being pulled by steam). |

I saw one like that on my last trip over to Canada! I wonder how long I would have had to wait before I saw the other end of that train, if we didn't have to move on. I wouldn't be surprised if the length of it could have been measured in miles! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I hope I'm allowed to do this, anyway, I'm about to put the message below on the 6 music boards. Maybe we'll get some of their posters over here, at least those that post on the 6 music equivalent of '2 News& Views'.

Hi Peta
The "handful of people" who helped to save this station? If it hadn't been for this message board, we would not have known about (and attended and contributed to) the rallies and petitions to save 6 Music.
Had we been away this week, we would have had no notice at all, and, if there is no access to this board after Friday morning, no knowledge of the alternatives, which, according to those posting here and on the R2 board, appear to be somewhat limited. |

It seems a shame all these new members aren't getting their own welcome thread. I'm having trouble keeping up with all the new arrivals. |

Hi to all R20k’ers,
Thanks to John W for setting this site up, its good to be among kindred spirits, although hopefully we will have some differences of opinion, to promote some good debates I too was on pre-mod on ‘R2 News and Views’, although I never have considered my postings to be offensive or inflammatory?
I’m off to the “Gripes” page now to try out my new privileges |

The creme de la creme of the radio 2 posters seem to have found their way here .. so Sir Evan and Santafefan and all the others from here who kept posting the links have done a sterling job.
Just want to say a huge thankyou to John and everyone associated with this forum for giving us all a home to come to after being booted off the R2 board.

Hello!
(Looks round nervously and flinches, especting to hear the grim words "this posting is awaiting " or "This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the House Rules in some way.")
followed by an email to say it's offensive, libellious, spammed, in a foreign language or "off-topic" - they seem to have been using this last reason an awful lot lately, and they way they've been interpreting "off-topic", sayinhg "hello" on a welcome thread would be clearly off-topic... _________________ One of the BBC's bad boys, seemingly. |
