This has just arrived in the post from Central Props... I suppose that I should fill in the "Your details" page.
Name... The Dark Lord. AKA Dr gLove.
Address.... oh come on, no one writes their address in a diary....
....let's not bother with the rest... the most important thing, is to get ready for the first show of 2010 which starts in around 9 hours time.... give or take 20 minutes...... so be ready. |

Definitely less than chuffed at the imminent one-hour move backwards, isn't he?
Sharing a trailer with Sarah. I wonder if they recorded it together?
A new producer as well. Hope his taste in music is as good as the current ones. _________________ Ron |

He's not the only one who isn't chuffed. I'm as miffed as miffed can be. I've been in training to get up earlier though Yeah, I've heard the trailer a couple of times now... .. I guess we just have to knuckle down and get on with it, or run away to a place where it's ok to be a little different, a place where you can walk, talk and hold hands in the sun, a happy place, a place where there's a life with you-shaped hole in it. A place where they'd all love Alex to be on during the day. Yay! |

Blimey! He looks young enough to be a policeman. In one of those pictures he looks just like my son Harry. Now I feel old.
Don't forget, it all kicks off at 2am Monday... |

In a brief period of wakefulness I caught most of the first hour. He's taken on the Single and Album of the Week from Janice, otherwise very much "Business as Usual". I hope his new producer remembers we like a little country and blues now and again, though. _________________ Ron |

It sounds as if his new producer is as nerdy as he is - they'll get along like a house on fire.

Madness is where it's at, in this insane world, insantity is the only rational choice. It seems insane to put the best radio shows on when most people are asleep, but in an insane world they would do that because the best people are insane enough to listen at that time, make sure that you're one of the best. |

Blimey! It's March already. I'm working on a bit of an update to this diary. Hmmmm. It will soon be the end of Q1, and then where will we be? Anyway, to be sure ( that's not an impression BTW) of being in the right mental zone when it comes ( the update that is), make sure you listen to Alex: live is advised but a liaison with the i-player is an acceptable alternative; however, if you're really pushed for spare moments- download the Oddcast into your pocket-player then listen while you shop. |

I loved the story about people who cough loudly at gigs! I bet he feels like Bugs Bunny in the cartoon where he's conducting the orchestra - like he wants to shoot the cougher! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Five hours this morning... Cool beans! You see, sometimes, everthing just works out. The sun is out, the birds are singing, five hours of Alex and my potatoes are up. Does it get any better? |

Your potatoes are up already? I guess that's because you're closer to the equator than most of us..........
.... and yes, it was pleasant to hear Alex this morning. |

Yeah, we planted some first earlies about 4 maybe 5 weeks ago during that false spring we had .. and this morning, there they are reaching enthusiastically skyward with every sinew of their little shoots. We’ve not had a frost here for a couple of weeks; our weather station (located on top of our greenhouse) is reporting 19.5 degrees at the moment , with a pressure of 1016.8mB and only 54% humidity… It’s warmer outside than inside this morning for the first time this year...
.... but getting back to the five hours of Alex….. how cool was that?… Chris Evans called him a God of a DJ; and all five hours without any text messages to read out … Pure Genius. Of course we already knew that… where we lead others follow. |

Did she not ring in time for someone else to cover? I heard him at before 7am. |

Normally, a presenter has to call the overnight Duty Officer who then alerts the producer. As far as I know there's always a standby presenter on the call rota, but obviously there was a problem in this instance so Alex must have agreed to keep going. |

I think Alex lives closer to Radio 2 now when they moved overnights to London. |

No shaving for men is a big no no- it’s just not practical for kissing- if the girlie has a bit of mid-life fuzz here and there- it works like Velcro- you can never part! Romantic- yes! Practical-no.
If you pull this way and I pull that way, you push here… a little harder……. Zzzzzzzcccchhhhhhhhhh ah..... there we are… |

It's his birthday today. At least things are starting to warm up a little, literally, on his adventure.
And I'm sure someone, somewhere, is blowing him a huge kiss

I didn't forget!- I wasn't here! Otherwise disposed, isolated, alone all at sea, no way to say happy birthday but I was thinking it..... and as the saying goes... it's the thought that counts! |

If you've been counting down the endless weeks, then the long weary days and nights: oh how they went on and on and on,... it's just hours now... in just a few short ones, Alex will be back from his holiday heaven, happy, hilarious and hairier than ever! Oh yes! And proper music too. You'd have to be mad or asleep to miss him. |

Lynn Parsons has been a very able stand in these past few weeks-I really enjoy her style of broadcasting.
Hopefully she will be back on Radio 2 shortly. |

Yeah, Lynn is fantastic; a joy! She'd be a good replacement for RA when he finally hangs hit hat up. Alex, on the other hand, is irreplaceable. |

Odd that, since both Tim Smith and Lynn Parsons were using Alex's producer.
I think I only heard a bit of them once each, but I wasn't impressed. Lynn's "favourite lines from favourite songs" thread must have come straight off the top of the Smooth Radio handbook. _________________ Ron |

I like Lynn, but would rather listen to Richard so I hope he hasn't got a hat to hang up! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Alex is back, and everything in the world is well again. (Well, you know, most things...obviously, I'm not including poverty, famine, floods, war, hurricanes or the Lib Dem Party Conference. )
It's national hidden talent week! Yay! If you have a hidden talent- get it out, give it a polish, buff it up a bit and pop it on the mantelpiece, so we can all see it. Hang on,.... Woah! Mule! .... If it has anything to do with bodily functions and high walls- I don't want to see that! |
