For me yet another damp squib. Over hyped and advertised and trailered to the point to when she did speak it was something of an anticlimax.
Is it me or is she even speaking in the same style as Moira? |

She sounded a little nervous in the 07:00 news but after that she was ok... different, and like Bull Murray said on the morning of the 3rd of February, "different is good". |

Trouble is............... it's just a news bulletin on the radio.
I'm totally mystified as to why Evans has sought to elevate the status of the newsreader on his own show. Everyone else hands over to a staff "announcer" who gets on with the job of reading the news.
It's all very odd. |

It just occurs to me that Selina was never the newsreader in her previous life on BBC-TV's Breakfast Time, or anywhere else as far as I know.
So the choice is a little odd, and she sounded a little odd at 9am. _________________ Ron |

I only heard her at the top of the breakfast show (after which I tune away or switch off) so I can't comment on later bulletins, but she sounded OK to me.
Previous to BBC Breakfast Time she worked at ITN and before that did her training on regional news, as do the majority of national news broadcasters. |

I thought she was surprisingly good at the news - her first time reading radio news, right? Impressive considering - I don't think Moira's quite got her tongue around it.
Saying that, Moira's personality is far more electric than Selina's today - but I presume it's a case of first day nerves. It would be nice to see a newsreader rotation - but if Evans really wants to help his Beeb colleagues, why not re-introduce Fran into the fold? |

Chris is trying to regenerate the old presenters from the past instead of having the regulars reading on his show. He does seem to be comfortable with females around him. I just wonder if he will start to bring in weather girls from the past if Lynn takes time off? |

Why would he want a weather girl to do the travel news?

Nice one Helen, that made me laugh.
Wincey Willis doing the travel, good idea.
Talking of weather girls, does anyone know what happened to Suzanne Charlton?
She just popped into my head for some reason |

It was a coup when Sky News had her reading the news with Scott Chisholm for a number of years... |

Didn't she have a family and decide to stay at home with them?
I discovered that a former boss of mine had worked with Wincey Willis at Teesside Airport long before she did that TV show with was it Anneca Rice. Name escapes me though.

I think Wincey worked in local tv and radio here in the North East, than TV-am, then I think she went back to working with animals which was her first love...
A quick search suggests she's working on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester.
Helen you are right she did work on Treasure Hunt... |

And maybe they can get get Sally Traffic to do the weather. Would her nickname change to Sally Weather, I wonder? |

Treasure Hunt - that's the one. Thanks GG!
I vaguely remember her on the TV as well from when we still lived up there.

I heard Selina on this morning, I thought she was terrible at readin gthe news out, kept stammering over the lines. Surely minimum requirement to reading the news on the radio is that you can read it out properly (not worried what accent )
It's not like on tv where they have to look good too is it |

So how do the "resident" incumbents feels about losing their prime time schedules to these newcomers, Sarah Kennedy tried to generate a bit of antagonism with "Dedley" without any success. It must be galling to Fran and Bobbi Prior though to be overlooked for these newbies who just turn up for one show a day. Whatever happened to good old continuity

I heard the 7 o'clock and wasn't too impressed. Intonation not that good and very flat. Why can't we have the normal newsreaders? They are excellent (apart from the 2pm brigade of try outs) and there must be enough of them to go round.

The use, by the Evans production team, of "hired hands" newsreaders in the breakfast show must be annoying the hell out of the staff announcers.
The "Evans effect" is certainly have a negative impact on feelings at the station, if Sarah Kennedy's quoted remarks in the press are anything to go by.
And, to think, I was banned from the R2MB for stating that staff at Western House were not 100% happy with things! |

Yep, looks like it! I made reference to current "water coooler gossip topics" within the radio 2 building and I was instantly banned. Apparently, it's not possible for listeners to actually be acquainted with anybody who works within the hallowed halls of the great BBC so they implied that I was lying!
And then they blocked me from posting any more! Not only that, but they subsequently ignored my emails in which I requested an explanation.
Maybe I should state it again: There are people who work within BBC Radio 2 who are deeply unhappy with the way the station is being run and deplore the negative effect that Chris Evans' appointment to Radio 2 at Breakfast has had on staff morale.
So there! |

'The truth HEARTS' - a great Freudian slip there!
Chris Evans seems only happy if he can get some former presenter who's desperate for work to suck up to him.
