Some celebration!
Anyhow, it all looks a bit fake to me. I don't believe that's a real tram. In fact, the last time I was up there (staying in a hotel over the road) there was no tram line across the back of the Granada backlot either.
Something is fishy about this whole thing. |

Er, Colin, you are aware that Coronation Street is a soap opera, and not in fact a documentary series?
The tram has featured in the series for years, through the magic of CGI, and they'll be using all sorts of tricks for this special event. It's directed by Graeme Harper, who's done some of the best Doctor Who episodes (Daleks going into void, the TARDIS towing the Earth, Cybermen airships, etc.) and he's said these episodes will be amongst the most spectacular things he's ever worked on.
There's also a Live Episode being planned. |

The way things go on in that street sometimes, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's a soap that's for sure.
Come to think of it, wasn't there a train crash on that non-existent viaduct many years ago when life was in 405-line Black & White? Looks to me like the British Railways Board never fixed it properly. What a disgrace!

You mean it's not a real tram but trick photography? Shouldn't we be told about this? |

Colin
It wasn't a train crash in 1967, the viaduct actually collaspsed. Well not actually cus it's only a TV programme, sorry to break that news to everyone
Ena Sharples was thought to be trapped and dead but it took more than a collapsing viaduct to kill off that old battleaxe.....a scriptwriter did that...
But you are right on two accounts. It was in grainy 405 mono and they couldn't have mended the viaduct proper |

Look, you can't fool me with all that baloney. I smell a conspiracy rat here! That Annie Walker was real enough - I saw her once! And I did a job with Reg Holdsworth (him with the silly specs), so it must be real. |

It's real to those who post in the Soap section on Digital Spy. They get so excited. |
