This is just a political gimmick from the Tories. Thatcher's mob couldn't get it to work and this lot won't either - it's not as easy to implement as it first appears. |

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the last time this creature got himself dirty was the last time he fell over on the playing fields of Eton! | Who pays for the expenses for those people to get to and from these places of work? Isn't there already a full time 12 week course you have to do after 6 months of signing on? I believe it is called "Gateway to Work"!! |

| It's also Interesting getting these people to either - litter pick or gardening. This is when the government is cutting back on local authorities budget. Cheap labour. |

In other words making more people unemployed by implementing this scheme. But it would not be that simple or cheap. Administering it would be tricky & they would need supervisors on site to ensure these guys were doing the job properly. |

The whole thing is simply Government PR hype designed to court popularity with working voters who have not properly thought through the consequences for their own jobs
Wouldn't be surprised if Andy Coulson had a major hand in it

I have now been unemployed for a month,i have spoken to my contacts in mental health and there is nothing and i mean nothing out there.
Tories are as usual picking on the wrong people. Eton boy you don't have a clue

Its annoying how they seem to think people who are unemployed don't want to work whereas in reality many do, the jobs are not there. Not in this area anyway, all there is here is either farming or tourism.

It's not unpaid work. They’ll get benefits- which is money, which is the same stuff you get paid with- so they will get paid.
This is a fantastic idea!
Get a few prison chain-gangs going too.
I would like criminals and lazy good for nothing layabouts to be scared of the big wide world instead of getting paid to intimidate the rest of us.

I don't think it is a gimmick or tory toff policy. If you lived in an area where there are lazy unemployed people you may witness what the government are trying to do. It is the people who get a lot of hand outs and have their homes well furnished, the latest gismos and cars....all with out working. It is these people who need to be targeted

There is a minimum wage in this country if councils start using this workforce then they will have to by law raise their benifit OR only untilise them to the tune of their benefit.
I feel there are too many complications to this and is one of their ideas to put out there to see what the reaction will be.
