George Osbourne said it was "in Britain's Interest" to hand over billions of taxpayers money to bail out Ireland. This while the government cut most social services claiming "we can't afford it"

Sometimes the big picture is important; other times, it’s the individual pixels. Today is a big picture day. If Ireland goes under – so will the Euro- so will the pound, then we’d all be stuffed with our own greed and slowly roasted under thirty years of Chinese financial oppression.

Also because Ireland have chosen to cut back deep and hard into it's deficit where as other countries didn't. The way we have now

I really fail to see why at a time of serious financial stringency we as a country should be expected to bail out Ireland which is a foreign country just like France or Spain
I remember Ireland's previous track record when they failed to help Britain in the Second World War remaining neutral officially but with some evidence of them assisting our enemies
Then there was the period in the 1970s when the Republic of Ireland harboured within its borders IRA terrorists who went into Northern Ireland blowing up buildings killing members of the security forces and police and killing innocent civilians and were then able to go back to their safe haven without the Irish Government being remotely interested in doing anything about it
In any event as I understand it any bail out of a Euro Zone country should be by other members of that Eurozone and not by countries like Britain who were wise enough not to join the disaster of the single currency
Personally I hope that the Euro does collapse beyond recovery and disappears out of existence and then perhaps people will finally begin to see that this whole experiment of a United States of Europe is not going to work and that Britain should withdraw from the EU and get on with trading with all countries in the world as a sovereign nation rather than pandering to the overpaid unelected idiots in Brussels whose involvement we really can do without

I've worked on two European Commission-funded projects this year and it's helped to pay the bills. Both projects have come into being as a means of promoting cooperation in the field of software development within specialised industries throughout the member states. So, on the basis that I'm alright Jack I'll stay on the side of the EU! Smile

One of the main reasons we should bail out Ireland is, if we don’t and they go belly up, all the money they owe to British Banks, RBS and others – which is far more than the Ireland bail out will cost us, would be lost, which would be disastrous for those banks (since most of them belong to we the taxpayer anyway), so we’d have to bail them (our banks), out again, at an even greater cost than previously! Also, we have no choice but to bail out Ireland because the bail out money is coming from an EU fund that we are already committed to support – so in a sense it’s out of our hands, if the EU decide to bail them out then we are committed to about 10 Billion whether we like it or not. I dislike the EU as much as anyone but if it all goes pear shaped we’re in it right up to our nostrils- you can blame the last Government for that – we didn’t get our referendum on the EU treaty – they just signed us up, and now we’re stuck with it and because we’re not in the Euro we pay all the insurance premiums for everyone else in the Eurozone but we get no cover ourselves. It’s a real mess.
