It was implied on SOTS today that Beatles for Sale is a 'near miss' in the quality of the canon.
I must admit that that pretty well concurs with my own point of view.
My favourites are, from the early days, With the Beatles, and, from a bit later on, Rubber Soul.
What are yours?

My other half is a big Beatles fan and has all their albums, he says Revolver and it doesn't have a duff track on it! I'm not such a big fan........

Wouldn't personally have Revolver as a first choice but can understand why others would.

| It does have one duff track (Yellow Submarine) but it is difficult to find fault with the rest. Elenor Rigby is a classic which is maybe why a lot of people feel this album is the best. |

| Not a huge Beatles fan & I have not listened to all their albums, but certainly Revolver. The music has stood the test of time, while Sgt Pepper often sounds embarresing today |

Mine are both the same as Ian's with Please Please Me being a close third.
Rubber Soul was the first one I bought several years later though.

That's a little unfair.
Beatles For Sale has a much more country feel to it than any of the others (though it doesn't quite go to the extreme of Paul's Rocky Raccoon/Blackbird/I Will period of the White Album).
It is true that it contains some of the least-covered of The Beatles songs; not even the two potential No 1 hit singles (No Reply and Eight Days A Week) have been copied to death. It could also be said that the two Carl Perkins covers they dumped on George and Ringo weren't quite out of the rock 'n' roll premier league.
If Ian MacDonald's "Revolution In The Head" is right, a lot of the songs were re-hashes and re-visitations of earlier material, or rejects off earlier albums, or half-songs hurriedly finished off in the studio. Considering they were being pushed to push out an album every six months, or less, it's hardly surprising. However, they still knock spots off most of what appears on albums of the period by all the other beat groups (Hollies, Searchers, Gerry & Pacemakers, even the Manfreds early LPs included some stinkers).
I don't have a favourite Beatles LP. If pushed, my least favourite would be Let It Be - three attempts (George Martin, Phil Spector and the "Naked" remix) to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse and they still couldn't do it.

Magical Mystery Tour ( LP version ) for me every time, followed by Sgt Pepper and Revolver.
I'll never tire of hearing the tracks from MMT, maybe with the exception of "Baby You're a Rich Man".
Just incredible music which for me at least, couldn't have been performed on a stage with any success.... definitely a studio sound and an experience for the mind.
Walrus, Strawberry Fields and Hello Goodbye are amongst the most amazing tracks I've ever heard!
