I'm down with the flu & its disrupted my sleep, so i was wide awake for 5AM. Been listening to Sarah Kennedy. She sounds so wide awake and perky this time of the morning. Really fabulous show.
i rekon she's the most under rated broadcaster on Radio today. |

I've been listening on "Listen Again" these last two mornings and you're right, she on top form, bubbling almost. _________________ Minx

Agreed, goodness knows how she does it at that hour! What a pity she's not on between 7& 9.30. Who is on at that time? My radios appear to automatically block Radio 2 between those times........ _________________ MiS |

I heard Sarah mention " she could lose listeners due to the change of timings" I can't see a vast amount, but maybe a few. |

Special treat this morning - managed to keep the radio on instead of having to suffer GMTV.
However, Sarah is now too perky, too chatty, too wordy. I kept wanting to tell her shut up and get on with some music.
She and Chris don't acknowledge one another; she's like a little island, cos she and Alex don't either. CE himself sounded tired, and the music was as well, and the Moyles was no better, droning on in deep nerd fashion about 99 variations of the Florence and the Machine track. _________________ Ron |

I missed Sarah Evans this morning. But the bit I caught of Chris before going off to work sounded good. He played Dolly Parton. You don't get better than that |

She has lost me unless I can't sleep as she is on too early now. When my normal shifts start again in April I will hear most of her show then. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Sadly Sarah may be right about losing listeners, I've been giving 5 live a try this week (though I did forget for a day and heard the first ten minutes or so of naff - not something I wish to repeat in a hurry).
I used to enjoy her first thing and miss her madness and bumbling through the paper review. |

Really enjoyed the swing tunes this week too. Its not a genre that I know all that well but Theme from a Summer Place is one of my favourites. I don't think the paper review did her any favours either so that being dropped has to me improved the show. |

Sarah wasn't very perky this morning, as she'd been awake since 1.30 am! One interesting comment - she said the R2 Controller doesn't like her!
Her idea for a simple one- on-one half hour show where Sarah would go to famous people's homes and ask them about their day to day lives - why not? Ideal for r2. They could easily cut SW down to make room _________________ MiS |

She made me very nervous this morning, I thought we were heading for another "SK disaster". She sounded a bit slurred, and a bit "extreme". Maybe that's what being short of sleep does for her.
Anyway, if the R2 Controller doesn't like her, he must be gnashing his teeth at the verdict of the BBC Trust. She's got to be a lot safer now than she was before the outcome of the Trust investigation, providing she doesn't step out of line. _________________ Minx

Sarah apologised this morning for yesterday. It was 24 hour flu, she said, and she didn't even know she'd got it. I know how she must feel. The last time I had 24 hour flu was when I demolished the best part of a bottle of Pouilly Fumee on an empty stomach. I didn't know I'd got it then..... in fact I didn't know very much about anything until the next morning. _________________ Minx

I had the 24 hour bug just the other day. You feel awlful with it. A dose of Parcetamol is a good source and plenty of water. I think I got it when I got wet in the rain.
Refering to the controller not liking her seems to be a little over the top. I wonder if Bob Shennan will be pulling her up on this matter? |

Why should he? Sarah obviously feels he doesn't like hr, so if anything he should reassure her and make her feel wanted. _________________ MiS |

You don't have to like someone to work with them, my last boss taught me that: it helps in ordinary day to day work but it's not required. In many ways it's easier for a manager if he doesn't like anyone at all, then he can make all his decisions dispassionately in the best interests of the goal. Imagine if you had to send someone on a vital mission that you knew they wouldn't survive. The best person for the job is your friend: do you send him/her, or do you risk everyone by sending someone you don't like, and hope they can complete the mission? |

Is Sarah Parnoid, or is the controller talking from his backside? Email or letters to the Controllers office. |

I'll say if the rest of you won't....
[edited]
How many more chances is she going to get on R2???
I've never heard of a 24 hour flu virus that makes you run your mouth off
Oh, and Mark.... you don't get viruses from being out in the rain- you pick it up from someone who already has it and they pass it on to you.
The only things you're likely to get from the rain are wrinkly fingertips or immersion foot (aka: trench foot) if you're standing in a puddle. _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

Perhaps she wants a Holiday and unable to take one yet? Or perhaps if she put some more effort into not just the show. Then you would think the controller and others expect her to be committed without earning thousands for just coming in presenting a 2 hour show ,5 days a week, then leaving broadcasting house mintues after the show has ended. Great shows and I like Sarah, but how do you get away with that? |

There are times when I despair, I really do!
What do you want her to do, mark (and you have to include Alex in that jibe, cos he's also in and out in short order)?
There are no (and we don't want) silly games, phone-ins, interviews celebrity or otherwise, live or pre-recorded, or anything else which requires a lot of preparation. Music, chat, a little listener input, nothing strenuous, to start the day gently before the circus arrives at seven.
Thing with Sarah is, if she's not 100% it does seem to affect her more than anyone else. No-one's flameproof but she does have a large, loyal audience who will forgive her off-days. _________________ Ron |

Totally agree with Ron.
Mark, what are you on about? How many presenters hang around after their shows have ended? If you think Sarah "earns thousands" what about Evans? _________________ MiS |

Indeed, if the BBC are looking to save money, think how much they would save if they didn't have these overpaid celebs. They wouldn't need to even think of scrapping 6 music. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Did Bob Shennan suggest a course of that 'Vitamin D' that Sue Sylvester dished out to the Cheerios and Glee team?
And THAT's the way Aviddiva sees it (yes, I do watch Glee). _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Just after the 6.30 news and travel yesterday morning I heard Sarah say that the presenters were not supposed to chat to each other any more. She said she thought the management have gone barmy and I have to agree with her! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |
