I recently read the BBC's own research which showed that Whiley's average listener age was 58 - above the station average and higher than she was supposed to be getting; while Drivetime's was below the station average. So Whiley is more likely to lose the under-55s than if the show had been left alone. He doesn't understand his own research. |

Gillian Reynolds (S. Times) is away but Pat Nicol wrote pretty much the same thing. There doesn't seem to be anyone who actually enjoys the new set up, apart from Bob Shennan.
You know fan pressure saved 6 Music so I wonder if sense will prevail and the old set up could be reinstated? I miss the specialist shows from 7-8pm as well, I'm about ready to watch TV most nights by the time they come on at 8 and there doesn't seem to be time to listen back to everything!

| If they wanted a female voice in daytime they could have teamed Sara Cox up with Ken Bruce. They actually get on, which is a good start, and I'm sure would be good fun. Jo Whiley doesn't seem to fit (and never really has done). |

| Ah yes. Radio 2 the Marks and Spencer of radio. They cannot attract the youngsters anymore but go out of the way to alienate their existing customers who will not return easily. |

The thing is they are attracting young listeners. Average listener age is now 53, which down on a couple of years back. But, of course, it's always an average of 53ish despite those people getting older! There's just a natural churn and when people reach a certain age they tend to leave Radio 1 and come to Radio 2. Always been the case, always will be. To say a station is "flatlining" is one of the dumbest things you can say. |
