Probably my favourite Neil Diamond track has to be 'Girl You'll be a Woman Soon' not by him but as covered by 'Urge Overkill'
Having said that there are many ND originals I like including things like Kentucky Woman, I Am I Said and Solitary Man _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

For making me smile (a lot) on a wet, miserable day this is my track of the day ...Norman Wisdom and Joyce Grenfell singing Narcissus.
it was on Don Black's programme which I caught up with today. |

I'm going to 'cheat' today and have a second Track of the Day.
Loved hearing Girl From The North Country by Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash on Patrick Kielty's programme this afternoon. |

I'm listening to Pick Of The Pops on 'listen again' and I'll pick these two from the first half. Atomic Rooster 'Devil's Answer' & The Move 'Tonight'. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Mine for today is You're No Good from the Swinging Blue Jeans on POTP. Strangely I'd just heard it this morning by Linda Ronstadt on one of my Spotify playlists!

I always miss the second half of POTP as I'm out Saturday afternoons so was a bit miffed that I missed 1964 (will 'listen again'). Normally 1964 would have been the first half. I heard a bit of 1959, it was awful, except for Bobby Darin's Dream Lover.
But if I HAD heard 1964 my track of the day would have been Dusty's I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself. Excellent production, lyrics, tune, it has everything. |

For me it's a toss-up between 'Fall Out' by The Police, which was played today on Johnnie Walker's Sounds Of The 70s. This is The Police at their punky best, before they were commercial & famous! And 'Tattoo' by Mike Oldfield, played this evening on Michael Ball's show. I'm not sure I've ever heard either on the radio before, so, to hell with it, I'll be greedy & have both these as my 'Tracks of today'! Though there were plenty of other potential candidates on today's Sounds Of The 70s show that are rarely heard. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Love that.
My track of the day today is the stirring Dambuster's March played on Jeremy's programme and I doff my 'cap' to the last surviving Dambusters pilot Leslie Munro, who has died at the grand old age of 96,in whose honour it was played.

Two tracks of the day today, on SOTS. Sitting In The Park by Georgie Fame. Such a smooth, sophisticated song. And Sunday Will Never Be The Same by Spanky and Our Gang, it's what I call a typical 1967 song, trippy and flowery, a bit druggy but very innocent. |

Spanky etc is a really classic track Schiz - it really for me sums up the whole ethos of that era - it should be played far more often on radio _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Listening to the 'Oldies' on SWs show today the track which stood out for me was 'Sign Of The Times' by Bryan Ferry - probably my favourite ever Ferry track but hardly ever played on radio these days
In fact a good selection of oldies generally today - sad that they only last for 30 minutes and then it's back to the usual irritating agenda
Still a bit of a lift to my day though _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

The original is one of my favourite Abba tracks - can't comment on the cover version as I flatly refuse to listen to that apology for a human being who has been foisted on us for the latter part of this week
I'll check it out elsewhere but frankly I doubt anyone can improve on the original _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

My chosen track for today has to be 'Living On Video' by Trans X - played on the KB show today
Why don't we hear more of these one hit chart wonders played on national radio?
I note that JV displayed his usual ignorance of music by not even knowing what the track was or when it was in the charts
I must admit I was somewhat shocked that Mr Bones chose to include it - perhaps he might be turning over a new leaf - or there again perhaps not _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I wasn't able to post this yesterday, so my track of 9/9 was 'Night In My Veins' by The Pretenders, which was played by Simon Mayo on Drivetime: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTOcUXDt4z0 _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Missed that one Becky as I'd gone out, but I love it too. We saw Peter in a cabaret about 20 or so years ago in a Manchester hotel and he was superb!

Somewhat cheesy but loved the segway on Steve's show just now of Osmonds' Love Me For A Reason into Andy Williams' Moon River. I'm still in my 'US frame of mind' having spent the last 10 days with friends in Texas so loved them both!

Many years ago we saw Peter Skellern and Richard Stilgoe in their double act. Brilliantly funny. |

2 tracks heard fairly close to each other tonight. First Bring Me Sunshine by Willie Nelson, I'd only ever heard it by Morecambe and Wise before and it always raises a smile when I hear it, and I needed one today!
2nd was 'We'll Sing In The Sunshine' by Gale Garnett on Paul Gambaccini.
Didn't hear much Radio at all, so probably not the best choices, but there you go!

My one for yesterday. Gotta be 'Mind Of A Toy' by Visage. Why is this nearly always ignored in favour of 'Fade To Gray'? A big well done to Sara Cox for playing it. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Two tracks of the day for me: 'Castles In The Air' by Don McLean, played by KB this morning. A lovely song, with great melody and lyrics. And a change from American Pie.
And 'Little Ole Wine Drinker, Me' by Dean Martin, played on SW's oldies. A song which I have only just become aware of. |

Helen, I think I first heard it on SOTS or something similar recently and that was the first time I ever heard it, and then today. I guess I was never a fan of that kind of music.
I've just looked him up in the Guinness Book of Hit Singles and the song does not appear so I guess it was never released as a single or was not a hit. Amazing. |

I guess it must have been an album track that got a lot of airplay on Radio 2 years ago which is when I must have heard it first.

My track of the day has to be 'Costafine Town' by Newcastle band Splinter played on POTP today
I don't think I've ever heard this superb George Harrison produced track on radio since 1974 - it begs the question why not _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
