It's been confirmed today that Rylan Clark-Neal will be replacing Zoe Ball on Saturday afternoons when she moves to Breakfast.

Once again, I feel the station is less and less for me.

I just knew that they were earmarking him for a regular spot. I can't take more of him than the time it takes my thumb to press the remote.

I'm just thankful I'm a sports nut, so it's Five Live on a Saturday, or family stuff.

I'm also conscious that I'm turning into Stadler or Waldorf...

Ian I agree with you, there is very little left that I enjoy now.

As I said in the RAJARs thread the listening figures for Saturday have actually gone up this year so I just can't see the logic for this move at all. With Johnnie Walker's Rock Show following Liza Tarbuck that's a pretty solid schedule of older-skewing fairly nostalgic listening from Pick of the Pops at 1pm to Craig Charles at 10pm. Putting 3 hours of Rylan in the middle sticks out like a sore thumb.

As someone who is very proud to say that I have never watched a single episode of "Britain's Got Strictly No Celebrity X-Factor" I have absolutely no idea who he is. I have a horrible idea he was sitting in for someone recently and I nearly slipped a disc in my rush to get to the off switch. It's good to see that Radio 2 has now left the bottom of the barrel and is busy underneath the barrel.

Is there some Holy Writ that says we can't have proper radio broadcasters instead of these unqualified celebs.

Exits left, feeling nostalgic for Richard Allinson and Stuart Maconie

Yes I miss those 2 who were great in that Saturday afternoon slot.

Yes, he sat in for Zoe over the summer and was awful.

I have to say I'm not much of a fan but he's not too bad in small doses on certain things. 3 hours is too much though - he doesn't know much about music, he doesn't really have much to say, and at 26 (allegedly) feels too young for Radio 2.

Well, this is it, isn't it? We lose Alex Lester, Janice Long, Bob Harris etc and get this in return. Hardly seems a fair swap.

I feel very nostalgic for those days, when I had Radio 2 on just about all day and Saturday afternoons were unmissable: Pick Of The Pops, Richard Allinson, Stuart Maconie's Critical List. Some of the comedy shows were good too, such as News Huddlines, surely now is a good time to have a similar show on again. It's Been A Bad Week was another one I enjoyed. Some good documentaries too before I burnt the midnight oil with Bob Harris' weekend show.
Those were the days!

There isn't much left for me either, just Sounds of the 70s and sometimes the first year on Pick of the Pops. Sad times! Sad

I hang on to Ken Bruce but the music is getting worse all the time. That's it for the daytime schedule since it's now full of hyperactive old men, Evans, Vine and Wright, getting more and more over excited.

Fortunately I can listen again at my desk so I keep up with SOTS, SOTS, POTP but that's about it. A far cry from the glory days when it was wall to wall R2

Same here, only Ken weekdays. I try with SOT60s, great music but don't like it with Blackburn.

Thank goodness for 6music, I may not like all the music but at least it makes music the priority.
